Xero is a cloud-based accounting software that integrates with various third-party applications such as Zoho People. It was created by Chris Liddell, one of New Zealand’s most successful entrepreneurs and an adjunct professor at the University of Auckland Business Schop. With the help of his partner Rod Drury, he co-founded Xero when he realized that his previous venture, accounting software developer Pacific Accounting, had outgrown Quickbooks’ capabilities. In 2012, Xero received funding from Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and Greylock Partners, two international VC firms. Since then, it has grown into a $1 billion company that now serves more than 2 million businesses in over 100 countries.
