Integration of Zoho Inventory and MailChimp

Zoho Inventory?

Zoho Inventory is an inventory management software that allows the user to track the stock of their products in real time. It is compatible with all types of products, be it office supplies or food items. It allows users to integrate with other Zoho products like Zoho CRM, Zoho Campaigns and Zoho Docs so that they can easily import data from other areas. For example, if a customer wants to place an order using the mailchimp integration, the email address can be directly taken from the Zoho CRM database. Furthermore, Zoho Inventory also has a very simple dashboard interface to make it easy to use.


MailChimp is a leading email marketing service that allows users to manage their mailing lists and send emails to customers. It integrates with many third-party platform including Zoho Inventory/CRM/Docs etc. The integration between MailChimp and Zoho Inventory allows users to import customers from Zoho to MailChimp so that they are able to send them emails. This is particularly useful for business owners who wish to use MailChimp for marketing purposes.


The main aim of this article is to show how easy it is to use the integration between MailChimp and Zoho Inventory. I will take through certain steps that are required to implement this integration within your Zoho account.

Step 1. Integrating MailChimp with Zoho Inventory

You can find the integration feature under settings -> Connected Accounts -> Add New Account -> MailChimp (Note. This is not present in the free version. You need to enter your Mailchimp API key and then click on Enable. Once the integration is enabled, you will be able to import customers from your Mailchimp account into your Zoho inventory account. To export customers from your Zoho inventory account into MailChimp, go to Connected Accounts -> Export -> MailChimp (Note. This is not present in the free version. Enter the MailChimp API key and click on Export now.

Step 2. Importing Customers

If you have added your Mailchimp API key, you will be able to see a tab named Connected Accounts under Settings -> Customers -> List of Customers. Click on Import from Mailchimp and enter the fplowing details:

  • Campaign name – This will be shown as a prefix for all emails sent through Mailchimp. For example, if you enter your email list as ‘subscribers’, then all emails sent using this list will appear as ‘Subscribers. Blah blah blah’ in your inbox.
  • List name – This is the name of the Mailchimp list that you want to import into your Zoho inventory database. You can create a new list or select an existing one from the drop-down menu provided.
  • Email IDs – In this field, enter the email addresses of your customers from Mailchimp who you would like to import into your inventory database. You need to enter one email address per line. If you have more than one row of email addresses, then separate each row using a comma (“,”. For example, if you have 3 rows of email addresses – [email protected], [email protected] and [email protected] – then you need to enter this as [email protected],[email protected],[email protected] Make sure you do not enter any spaces after the commas as this may cause error while importing information from your Mailchimp account into your Zoho inventory database. Once you have entered all the email addresses, click on Import from Mailchimp at the bottom of the page. The import will begin once you click on it and will be completed in about 10 minutes maximum. However, there may be instances where there are some duplicate entries in your list and these need to be respved before importing data into your inventory database. The duplicates will be marked with ‘*’ under Status. You can click on Respve Duplicates button to respve them or continue without respving them if you are comfortable with having duplicate entries in your database (Note. Respving duplicates will take much longer than importing emails one by one. Once importing is complete, you will now be able to see all the imported customers in your database under Customers -> List of Customers section within your account (Note. You can also view all imported customers under Trash section if you are using free version. To view an individual customer’s details, click on View Details button next to his/her name under All Customers section under Customers -> List of Customers section within your account. That’s it! You have successfully imported customers into your database from Mailchimp account! Note that importing emails may sometimes cause errors depending upon the size of your list and the number of duplicates in it. However, these issues can be respved by removing duplicates and manually entering email addresses instead of importing them using this feature. But remember that using this feature will save you a lot of time! Step 3. Sending Emails Now that you have imported customers into your inventory database, let us send emails to them using MailChimp! To do this, go back to Connected Accounts -> Send Emails section within your account (Note. This feature is only available for users who are using premium plans.
