Sean Tierney and Michael Pryor founded Zendesk in 2007 in Copenhagen, Denmark. It was originally called Bronto before changing its name to Zendesk three months later. In 2010, Zendesk moved its headquarters to San Francisco. In 2012, the company raised $45 million in funding from Benchmark Capital, bringing its total funding to $87 million. In 2013, Zendesk announced that it had reached $100 million in annual recurring revenue. In 2014, the company raised $70 million in funding from GGV Capital and Insight Venture Partners. The fplowing year, Zendesk announced that it would be moving its headquarters to San Francisco’s Mid-Market neighborhood.
