Integration of Zendesk and Reddit

The integration of Zendesk and Reddit is no longer an idea, it is now reality. Zendesk is the premier provider for customer support software. It was founded in 2007 in Denmark. It has over 100,000 customers around the world, providing software to companies like Facebook, eBay, Twitter, Uber, Spotify, etc. (http://www.zendesk.com/company. Reddit is a social media platform that allows users to discuss any topic they want with anyone who wants to join in on the conversation. Its users are called Redditors. It was created by two founders in 2005 and was then bought by Conde Nast Publications in 2006. The site was later spun off as an independent entity in 2011. It has over 7,000,000 registered users and is ranked as #30 in US traffic ranking (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reddit. The integration of these two unique sites has been a long time coming.

Customers have been using the Zendesk site as a place to ask questions to other Redditors through a thread started by a common user called “Swaayyy”. This thread has been used as a place to ask questions about the company’s customer service software and has been going on since May of 2016. “Swaayyy” also moderates a subreddit called “r/Zendesk” which acts as a community to talk about integrations between Zendesk and Reddit. In October of 2016, “Swaayyy” started the merger of his thread and subreddit into one large community called “r/Zendesk_API” featuring a Zendesk API forum and r/Zendesk integration thread. The integration will allow customers to create tickets and receive notifications from Zendesk and also post and reply to posts made by other customers on Reddit. This integration will allow customers to see their post history from Reddit and access it from one place without having to go to different areas of the Reddit site to find specific information; this will ultimately streamline the process of looking up information. This integration could also open up doors for more integrations with other sites such as Facebook, Twitter, or even Google Docs, creating a better experience for customers and giving them more options when they need to get in contact with customer support about any issues they may have with their product or service. This will also be beneficial for employees because they will not have to handle issues posted on Reddit individually and can instead spend more time on other tasks that need to be completed for the customer service department of their company.
