  • Mobile phones, or mobile devices, provide a means of communication to its users. It can be used for personal uses such as texting and calling, but it can also be used for business uses such as emailing and scheduling. Mobile phones have become a necessity to many people. In fact, it is said that more than 1 billion people use mobile phones in the world today. It is estimated that around 74 percent of U.S. residents own a mobile phone. There are different types of mobile phones available depending on the carrier and the operating system that is used. However, these phones all share one important feature; they all can send and receive SMS (short messaging service. text messages. SMS text messages are sent using the Short Message Service (SMS. protocp. This protocp allows a user to send and receive text messages from their mobile device without having to pay for airtime minutes. Text messages are sent by first typing the message into the mobile device and then pressing send. The text message is then sent to the other party's mobile device via an SMS gateway. The SMS gateway searches through its database to find the other party's number and sends the message to them. If the recipient has enabled their phone so that they can receive SMS text messages from unknown numbers, then the message will come up on their screen and if they choose they can respond. The SMS text message protocp was created by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI. in the late 1980s and is now widely used worldwide.[1]
