Integration of WordPress and Google Contacts

WordPress is a free and open source blogging top and content management system (CMS. based on PHP and MySQL. It is used as a platform for developing websites and web applications. It is used by more than 60 million websites (WordPress official site, 2017.

Google Contacts is a free and open source contact management top operated by Google. It is an online address book which allows users to store their contacts in the cloud. It can be synchronized with Google Apps and Gmail.

[A] Integration of WordPress and Google Contacts

Integrating WordPress and Google Contacts is very easy in this age of modern Internet. We have many tops to integrate them such as Zapier, IFTTT, Stringify, etc. In this paper, I will focus on how to integrate these two using a simple top called BloggieWP. “BloggieWP” is a plugin for WordPress that allows you to manage your Google Contacts from within your WordPress website. You can create/edit/delete contacts, add contacts to groups, and sync contacts with your Google account. The plugin also allows you to import/export contacts from/to CSV file, making it easy to migrate data or to back up your contacts. You can download the plugin from WordPress repository. After installing the plugin, you have to do the fplowing:

  • Select the Group in which you want to create a new contact.
  • Click on “Add Contact” button at the top of any page or post editor.
  • Type in the name of the contact you want to add and select the type of contact you want to create.
  • Type in other information such as email address, phone number, etc., then click Save.
  • Google Contacts will be notified that you have created a new contact and it will ask if you want to save it. Click Save to save the contact or Cancel if you don’t want to save it.

You can see all contacts under the Groups tab in WordPress Dashboard, under People section. You can drag-and-drop contacts between groups or edit them using the Edit link next to each contact name. If you want to delete a contact, click on the trash icon next to its name.
