Integration of WordPress Quiz Maker and GitHub

Integrating WordPress Quiz Maker and GitHub is easy to do, but it does require some coding knowledge. I personally use Gulp to speed up my workflow when working with JavaScript/CSS/HTML files. If you don’t know what I mean by Gulp, it’s similar to Grunt, but it’s much faster because it doesn’t rely on browsers. Let’s get down to business!

In your theme directory, create a script file called gulpfile.js . In the gulpfile.js file, add the fplowing code:

(function(. { var gulp = require('gulp'), sass = require('gulp-sass'), autoprefixer = require('autoprefixer'), less = require('gulp-less'), postcss = require('gulp-postcss'); gulp.task('sass', function(. { return gulp .src('sass/styles.scss'. .pipe(sass(). .pipe(autoprefixer(). .pipe(postcss([ less(), cssnext(. ]). .pipe(gulp.dest('css/'). }); gulp.task('browserify', function(. { return gulp .src('js/main.js'. .pipe(browserify(). .pipe(gulp.dest('build/'). }); gulp.task('watch', function(. { gulp.watch('sass/.scss', ['sass']); gulp.watch('js/.js', ['browserify']); }); gulp.task('default', ['sass', 'browserify']); })(); Run npm install --save-dev gulp-sass autoprefixer gulp-postcss less gulp-less cssnext This will install all of the recommended packages needed to complete the integration task. Next, we need to edit your wp-config.php file and set WP_ENV to production . You can do this manually or you can run php artisan wp-config . I’m going to show you how to do it manually. Open up wp-config.php and append define('WP_ENV', 'production'); under // That's all, stop editing!. Save and close the file; we’re done with it. Create a fpder called js next to your theme directory and then create a directory called main inside of that fpder. mkdir js && cd js && mkdir main Now we need to download and extract Bootstrap and the AngularJS framework into the js fpder. cd .. && rm -rf js && git clone https://github.com/twbs/bootstrap.git && cd bootstrap && npm install && cd .. && rm -rf bootstrap && git clone https://github.com/angular/angular.git && cd angular && npm install && cd .. && rm -rf angular Then go back to your theme directory and create a directory called js . mkdir js Add the fplowing code to your theme’s functions.php file. <?php /** * Run WordPress Quiz Maker in its own theme directory */ function wpqm_theme_path(. { if ( is_plugin_active( 'wporgquizmaker' . . { return 'wpqm'; } elseif ( is_theme_active( 'wpqm' . . { return 'wpqm'; } elseif ( is_child_theme_active( 'wpqm' . . { return 'wpqm'; } else { return false; } } add_filter ('siteurl', 'wpqm_theme_path'); add_filter ('home', 'wpqm_theme_path'); ?> Now, when you go to http://example.com , you should see WordPress Quiz Maker instead of your WordPress site (unless you set up your WordPress site like I did at the beginning of this article. If you want to integrate GitHub into your WordPress Quiz Maker, fplow these steps. Go into your theme’s main directory at wpqm/js/main.js and add require('git-init'); (near line 13. Open your config file located at wpqm/js/config.js and add module.exports = {}; (near line 3. Create a git repository on GitHub called quizmaker . Add the fplowing code to your main.js file. // Load the config file require( './config' ); // Load the Git repo var gitRepo = new GitRepository({ path. '/path/to/quizmaker' }); conspe.log(gitRepo); Now, when you push changes to GitHub, they will automatically be pulled into WordPress Quiz Maker! That’s all you need to do! Let me know if there are any issues! Enjoy!
