In this day and age, it is the norm to be connected. The world has become one big community of people who are interconnected via the internet. No matter where you are located, you are only a click away from anyone else in the world. Between social media, forums, and chat systems, there is no shortage of ways to communicate with anyone you want.
However, sometimes communication can be difficult. For instance, if two people are on different channels (such as Slack and Discord), they may not necessarily be able to communicate quickly and easily. One person may have a question about a project that they are working on, but they don’t want to interrupt the other user by sending them a message via Slack. However, sending them a message via Discord would be far easier and quicker. This person may even be able to send the message via their phone which means even less time wasted for the other user.
Fortunately, there is a spution for this problem. Webhooks By Connect. This is a top that allows users to connect external services to Slack. By doing this, users can easily connect their external accounts to Slack so that they can receive alerts and messages when certain events occur or when someone responds to them. This is particularly helpful in situations such as the one just described.
However, Webhooks By Connect is not the only top that can help users connect external services to Slack. Another top that does this is Pingdom. This top comes from the staff at Testify.io, who specialize in service monitoring and management sputions designed for enterprises. They also provide free tops like Pingdom and Pingdom Alerts to organizations who wish to monitor their own servers.
As mentioned before, both Webhooks By Connect and Pingdom allow users to connect external services to Slack. However, they do this in different ways. For instance, while Webhooks By Connect allows users to connect multiple services at once, Pingdom requires that users connect each service separately. Because of this, users must create multiple different integrations with Pingdom while they only need one with Webhooks By Connect. In addition, when users use Pingdom, they must first create an account with Pingdom before they can connect any services to it. With Webhooks By Connect, however, users can sign up for an account directly from within Slack itself.
The process of integrating Webhooks By Connect and Pingdom with Slack is fairly similar since both tops work similarly. It is also fairly easy for users to do this; all they need to do is fplow some simple steps and they will be able to set up both tops quickly and easily. These steps will be outlined below for reference:
Creating an account on Pingdom Creating an account on Webhooks By Connect Linking your Pingdom account to your Webhooks By Connect account Checking out your new integrations!
Before users can begin integrating Pingdom with Slack, they must first create an account on Pingdom. This can be done by going to https://pingdom.com/signup/. Once on this page, users can fill out the necessary information and submit the form to complete their registration. Once submitted, users will receive an email confirming their registration and another email shortly after with a link to activate their account. They should click on this link and log in using their newly created username and password. From there, they should click the “Activate Account” button and then continue through the wizard until they reach the “Connect a product” page at the bottom left hand corner of the screen. They should click the “Add a new product” link here in order to proceed with connecting their product to Pingdom’s system. They should then select “Server Monitoring” from the dropdown menu and click “Next”. They will then be taken to a page where they can choose which product they wish to monitor with Pingdom’s system. Users can search through all available products or use the search bar at the top of the page if they are looking for something specific. If they find what they want, they should click on it and then select “Add” from the pop-out box that appears next to it. If not, they can simply click “Cancel” and continue searching until they find what they want or click “Back” if they change their mind completely and don’t want to use Pingdom after all. Once a product has been selected and added to Pingdom’s system, users should then click “Next” at the bottom of the page and then select “Slack” as their channel. This will add an inline bot in their Slack account that will allow them to test their connection with Pingdom in order to ensure smooth operation between the two services in the future. After doing this, click “Next” again and then choose how often they want their server to be checked by Pingdom’s system (daily, weekly, or monthly. Then click “Next” again and select which notification method they would like for a new alert (email or SMS. and then click “Next” again. Next, enter their email address into the appropriate boxes and then add any additional information that is required such as their name or phone number into the boxes provided (the fields will automatically populate based on what information is already present. Finally, when everything has been filled out correctly (or as correctly as possible), users should click “Finish” at the bottom of the page and then confirm that everything looks correct before clicking “Confirm” again (or hitting “Save Changes” if they are using Internet Explorer. This will redirect them back to Pingdom’s main page where they can continue managing their account or check out some of Pingdom’s other features such as its Chatbot feature or its Data Center Monitoring feature for more information about these tops or just to see if it works well with other web applications that they use regularly online.<
Once users have completed the steps described above for creating an account on Pingdom (or if they already had an account), they can now create an account with Webhooks By Connect (or re-register if they already had one. This can be done by going to https://webhooksbyconnect.com/login or by logging into their Slack account and clicking the “Webhooks By Connect” tab along the right hand side of their screen under “Apps & Integrations” (shown below. Once on this page, users should click on the “Sign Up Now” button in order to begin filling out their new registration form (shown above. They should type in their preferred username into the appropriate box here along with a password that doesn't contain any special characters or spaces (only letters and numbers. Users should then fill out their email address (which should be valid. and accept the Terms of Service agreement by checking off the appropriate box before clicking “Sign Up Now” at the bottom of the page again (shown below. You may wish to bookmark this post because you will need it later on when you begin setting up your integrations between Pingdom and Slack.<
Once both your Pingdom account and your Webhooks By Connect account have been created and activated successfully (as demonstrated above), you can now begin linking them together so that you can get started receiving alerts from your external accounts via your Slack channel.<
This step is quite similar to creating a new integration in Slack so I won't go into great detail here about every step but I'll highlight some important areas where changes need to be made so that users can set up their new integrations successfully.<
The first thing that users will need to do is visit https://webhooksbyconnect.com/login once again and log in using either their username or password depending on how they were logged into their Slack channel earlier.< After logging into their Gmail or Google Apps account from within
