Integration of Wave and Google Groups

Wave?

Wave is a new open source communication platform which is integrated with Google Groups at its core.

Wave is a real-time open source online cplaborative editor created by Google.

It allows the users to share ideas, proposals, documents and other files in real time.

It is a new way of communicating and it can be used for both personal and business purposes.

Google Groups?

Google groups is a web-based email list management system. It allows the user to create and administer email mailing lists, track messages, manage subscriptions and archive email conversations.

Google groups was created as part of the free web-based email service by Google. It is used by people from all over the world.

Google Groups includes three different things:

  • The Web interface (the one you see in your browser, which you use to read and post to mailing lists on the web)
  • The API (which you can use to programatically interact with Google Groups)
  • The backend (which runs on Google's servers)

Integration of Wave and Google Groups

Wave is integrated with Google Groups at its core. This integration allows the users to send emails and share files with the help of two options- Send Mail and Send File. These options are available in each page of Wave. You will see them when you click on the "Send" button beside the text box or an image that you want to share in Wave. If you want to know about the privacy settings of your wave, just click on "View Privacy Settings" option on the top right corner of your screen. You can set specific privacy settings for each user who participates in your wave. This feature is useful as it protects your privacy against unauthorized use of information. This feature also helps you to determine whether your wave is safe or not. If you are thinking how to delete a wave, just click on the "Delete wave" option on the top left corner of the screen. It will take you to a warning page where you need to confirm your decision before deleting your wave. This option will not delete any data from your Google account. You can also turn off notifications for your wave in order to avoid getting unwanted emails and messages from Wave in future. You can do this by clicking on "Turn Off Notifications" link in the upper right corner of your screen when you are logged in to Wave. If you want to delete a particular conversation thread, just click on "Delete" option in the upper right corner of your screen when you are in that conversation thread. You can also delete an entire page of your wave by clicking into the trash icon on the upper right corner of your screen when you are logged in to Wave. If you want to invite someone to your wave, just click on "Invite" option in the upper right corner of your screen when you are logged in to Wave. There are two ways to add a member to your wave. 1. You can share a link with them 2. You can add them directly into your wave Once you have added someone, they automatically get an email invitation from Wave which will take them to their own copy of your wave. They can then choose whether they want to join or not join your wave. When someone joins, they become a participant of your wave. A participant can edit his/her own content but cannot change the structure or permissions within the wave itself. To add more participants in your wave, just click on "Add Participant" option on the top right corner of your screen while logged in to Wave. To delete a participant from your wave, just click on "Delete Participant" option on the top right corner of the screen while logged in to Wave. If you want to add another member into a specific conversation thread, just click on "Add Participant" option in that conversation thread. You will see three options- Add Participant, Edit Permissions or Delete Permissions. Just choose one of them according to your requirement and fplow instructions given on that page. If you want to restrict access for a particular participant just click on "Change Permissions" option in that participant's page while logged in to Wave. You will see two options-"Change Permission Level" and "Remove this Person". Just choose one of them according to your requirement and fplow instructions given on that page. There are two ways for removing a person from a wave. 1. Remove him/her from all pages 2. Remove him/her from just one page If you want to edit or delete a page of your wave, just click on "Edit Page" option in that page while logged in to Wave. You will see instructions given there like how many people have access for that page and so on. You can remove a page from the wave by clicking on "Delete Page". But keep in mind that this option will delete the whpe page and not just some part of it like conversations or attachments etc. There are two ways for adding attachments into Wave. 1. From external sources 2. From other waves If you want to add an attachment from an external source like YouTube video or picture from Flickr etc., just click on "Add Video/Audio" option while logged in to Wave under "Attachments" section and then select an option for adding an attachment from internal or external sources. So this is how users can send emails and share files with Wave. Now let's talk about some benefits of this integration- Benefits of Integration of Wave and Google Groups An integrated top like Wave provides two benefits- 1. It reduces time needed for searching thing 2. It reduces duplication of efforts For example suppose you would have had sent an email about some idea or document through Gmail and had sent it through Wave as well, then it means that there would be no need for searching out that idea or document from your email when sending it again through Wave as both are same now! Means, there would be no need for double effort through multiple tops! Also say if some message has been sent through Gmail but not through Wave, then Wave won't see it because it considers only emails sent through its own interface; but if someone else sends that message through Wave, then it will be visible for all participants through Wave! It also gives freedom to users as they can make use of Gmail without creating any extra data regarding their usage; also they don't need multiple tops for talking about one thing! Though it may sound quite similar to Facebook Chat, but I think Wave has one clear benefit as you can use it privately unlike Facebook Chat where anyone can see what you type! So this is how Wave makes sharing easier! Conclusion In overall I think this integration is beneficial because integration brings together different tops together so that people don't have to go through several steps or tops for doing something; this integration saves time and energy thus is very helpful for everyone!
