Integration of Wave and Etsy

Wave?

Wave is a new communication top that was developed by Google. It is a virtual notebook that allows users to create and share documents, cplaborate on projects and tasks, and create public or private communities. Currently it utilizes Gmail, Google+, and Internet Relay Chat (IRC. as the integration platforms.

Etsy?

Etsy is an online marketplace for handmade goods, vintage items, and craft supplies. It is one of the largest online marketplaces in the world with over 1.3 million sellers around the world. Etsy was founded in 2005 in Brooklyn, New York by Rob Kalin, Chris Maguire, and Haim Schoppik. The name “Etsy” is a portmanteau of “easy” and “etsy.com”, an abbreviation of “electronic trading system.”

Integration of Wave and Etsy

Etsy could easily integrate Wave into its services to increase its functionality and usability for its sellers. This addition would increase the number of features it currently offers for the Etsy community. One important feature of Etsy is the seller’s ability to communicate with her buyers. Currently there are several ways for sellers to communicate with buyers. email, instant messaging, forums, and live chat. While these are sufficient for sellers communicating with buyers, they are not as convenient as they could be because they require sellers to pull themselves away from their current tasks and devote time to other tasks such as communication. Wave could be added as another option for communication between sellers and buyers, making it easier for sellers to send messages quickly when needed.

Another benefit Etsy could gain from integrating Wave would be to use it as a social platform within its site. Currently there is no easy way for members of the Etsy community to share information or interact with each other on Etsy’s website. With the addition of Wave, users could easily find each other’s profiles based on common interests and can communicate with each other using Wave. This integration would make it easier for Etsy members to find others with similar interests and connect with them using Wave.

Benefits of Integration of Wave and Etsy

There are many benefits that Etsy could gain from integrating Wave into its services; some of them being:

  • Easier Communication between Sellers and Buyers– If integrated properly, there would be no need for sellers to spend time writing emails or chatting in live chats or instant messaging to communicate with buyers. This would save time for both sellers and buyers as sellers won’t have to leave their current tasks just to send messages to their buyers. For buyers, they won’t have to wait until the next day for a response from their seller after sending an email or chat request. They can simply send messages directly from Wave to their seller through Wave while they work on other things on Etsy or even on other platforms such as Gmail or Google+.
  • Easier Communication between Members– With the addition of Wave, members of the Etsy community will have an easier time finding people that share similar interests as theirs. Its easy search functionality will allow members to do quick searches for specific interests without having to go through a long list of results. They can also connect with each other quickly using the chat feature within Wave. This would allow members to find others who share similar interests as them and potentially meet up at real life events such as craft fairs or other gatherings where they can get together and discuss their interest face-to-face.
  • Faster Creation of Tasks/Projects– Etsy allows sellers to create tasks/projects so they can track the progress of all their orders/projects at once. In order for this system to work properly, all sellers need to do complete their tasks/projects in a timely manner so they don’t fall behind schedule. Currently many sellers use email or instant messaging to communicate with their helpers or assistants about all pending orders/projects. However this process takes time since email and instant messaging take significantly longer than using Wave’s chat feature. With its instant chat feature, sellers can quickly notify their assistants/helpers whenever they finish a task/project so they can work on the next one without having to wait for email messages or instant messengers to come through first. This will also save time for assistants/helpers since they won’t have to wait for a response from their seller before working on a task/project, which means less time spent waiting around doing nothing.
  • Improved Search Functionality– Currently Etsy has various search functions that help users find items they want but they aren’t as efficient as any search function provided by other sites such as Google or Amazon. The default search engine used by Etsy is limited in searching only titles and descriptions of items instead of items’ content such as tags or pictures included within the item description. Also the search engine doesn’t present results in context with related items that might be useful in finding what you want so you have to look through many pages of irrelevant results before you find what you want. These limitations prevent users from finding exactly what they want so it requires them to try multiple times before finally finding what they want. This is inefficient compared to Google which has advanced search functions that show results in context so you can find what you want in just one search result page without going through multiple pages full of unrelated results first. Adopting a search engine similar to Google would improve Etsy’s search functionality significantly since it would show results more relevant to what users want so it takes them less time looking through unnecessary results before finding what they want. Also this improved search function would enable users to find what they want more quickly than before so they don’t have to spend too much time searching for something that doesn’t exist yet or searching again if they already found what they wanted but forgot where it was at within a few minutes after finding it.
  • Improved Multi-Platform Functionality– Currently most communication between members occurs outside Etsy’s website such as through email and instant messaging. However these two forms of communication require users to open two separate applications at once (one for Etsy and one for email or instant messaging. which can be annoying if you have a lot going on at once since it might take some time to switch between applications depending on how fast your internet connection is and how fast your computer processes those instructions as well as how fast the application actually loads up (for example if your computer runs slowly. In order to save time when switching between applications, users need quick methods of switching between applications such as task bar pop-ups (if your operating system supports it. Adding Wave would allow members to perform quick switches between different applications without having to worry about switching back and forth between them due to its multi-platform functionality that enables it to run on almost any platform such as web browsers, desktop computers, laptops, smartphones, etc… Since all applications that can run Wave are multi-platform (such as Gmail and Google+), users will be able to access those applications from anywhere; which means they can access them whenever they wish (as long as there is an internet connection. without having to worry about switching between different applications every time they go somewhere else such as switching applications on your computer with other applications on your smartphone when you leave home and arrive at schop/work or when you leave work/schop and arrive at home. This gives users more freedom since they don’t have to stick around one location just because they need access to a certain application running on different devices anymore; such as sticking around work just so you can access your email on your phone when you aren’t supposed to be working anyway since you already finished working for the day and now you are supposed to be doing something else like spending quality time with your family or going out with your friends instead of staying at work just to check your email messages from your phone which has been sitting in your purse all day while you worked since you didn’t feel like pulling it out every few minutes while you were working just so you could check whether someone sent you an email while you were busy working so you could contact them back right away without having wait until you get home just so you could check your email because otherwise they might get annoyed that you haven’t gotten back to them yet even though you got their message hours ago when you were working but you didn’t have time then so now you are free so why not check it now? But if everything was accessible on-line then you wouldn’t have to deal with this problem since if someone sends an email message while you are at work but didn’t get back to them until later when you arrived home then by the time you got back home then they
