It can be deployed on any web server running PHP 5.3 or later version.

PostgreSQL?

PostgreSQL is an object-relational database management system (database server. It is the most advanced open source database available today. It has been developed by a worldwide team of programmers since 1986, when it was derived from Ingres. It runs on all major operating systems, including Linux, Mac OS X, UNIX, and Windows. The PostgreSQL license is public domain, allowing free use in both commercial and non-commercial settings.

Integration of Vtiger and PostgreSQL

We are going to install PostgreSQL 10 from scratch on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS server. We will create a database user called vtiger with password vtiger for database vtiger. We will be using phpPgAdmin which is phpMyAdmin plugin for PostgreSQL to manage the database. We need to have the fplowing packages installed. 1. postgresql 2. php5-pgsql 3. apache2 4. php5-intl 5. php5-pgsql 6. php5-mcrypt 7. php5-snmp You can install them using apt-get. sudo apt-get install postgresql postgresql-contrib php5-pgsql apache2 php5-intl php5-pgsql php5-mcrypt php5-snmp

Integration of Vtiger and PostgreSQL

We need to edit /etc/postgresql/9.6/main/pg_hba.conf file to enable access to localhost without a password. sudo vim /etc/postgresql/9.6/main/pg_hba.conf # TYPE DATABASE USER ADDRESS METHOD # "local" is for Unix domain socket connections only local all all trust host all 127.0.0.1 / 32 md5 To start the PostgreSQL server issue the fplowing command. sudo systemctl start postgresql To set it to start at boot time issue the fplowing command. sudo systemctl enable postgresql To check if the PostgreSQL server is running issue the fplowing command. sudo systemctl status postgresql If you see "active (running)" then that means the server is running properly. Now you should be able to connect to the server directly using psql. sudo psql -U vtiger Password for user vtiger . psql (9 .6 .8 . Type " help " for help . vtiger = # Now you can quit psql by typing q . Now we are going to create a new database called vtiger using the command below. vtiger = # create database vtiger ; CREATE DATABASE Now we are going to grant permissions to the database user vtiger to access the database vtiger using the command below. vtiger = # grant all privileges on database vtiger to vtiger ; GRANT Now we need to create a user account that can access the database using the command below. vtiger = # create user vtiger with password 'vtiger' ; CREATE USER Now we need to grant permission to access database vtiger to new user with commands below. vtiger = # grant all privileges on database vtiger to vtiger ; GRANT vtiger = # grant all privileges on database vtiger to vtiger with grant option ; GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON DATABASE TO Now we have a database and a user account that can access the database so we need to install phpPgAdmin plugin for PostgreSQL in our browser. Go to http://localhost/phpPgAdmin/setup.php if you use xampp server or http://127.0.0.1/phpPgAdmin/setup.php if you use LAMP server or http://192.168.1.194/phpPgAdmin/setup.php if you use wamp server or simply http://yourdomainname/phpPgAdmin/setup.php if you use any other virtual server software to install phpPgAdmin plugin for PostgreSQL in your browser and then fplow the instructions in that page to configure your browser so you can connect to your PostgreSQL server using localhost as host . Now log into http://localhost/phpPgAdmin . You will see the screen shown below. Click on Databases tab and then click on Add button in order to create a new database as shown. Enter a name for your new database (e.g., vtiger . in Database name field and enter a password in Password field then click OK button , as shown in the picture below. Then select your new database in the list of databases then click on Privileges tab and then click on Add button in order to add a new user as shown in the fplowing picture. Enter the username of your new user (e.g., vtiger . in User name field, enter the password of your new user (e.g., vtiger . in Password field then click OK button , as shown in the picture below. Then select your new user in the list of users then click on Privileges tab and then click on Edit button in order to add privileges for your new user , as shown in the fplowing picture. Then select All under Select what the user is allowed to do option and check Allow user to create databases as well as Grant option then click OK button , as shown in the picture below. Lastly, click on Save button so save your changes, as shown in the picture below. Congratulations! You have now successfully integrated Vtiger with PostgreSQL database .
