uProc is a software top which synchronizes e-mail between different accounts such as Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail etc. It is a powerful utility for users to manage their multiple accounts in one place. Besides, it has features of scheduling, auto fill forms and filters of e-mail messages. Moreover, it allows users to synchronize with their own SMTP server. As an Internet user, I am greatly impressed by this top.

Gmail?

Gmail is a free web-based email service developed by Google. Gmail was launched in April 2004 and is currently the most widely used email service in the world. The name “Gmail” is derived from “G” for Google and “Mail” for email. According to Google, the design of Gmail is based on the concept of information being easily accessible and the priority of email that needs to be dealt with being clearly separated from that which can wait. It was initially announced on April 1st, 2004 by Craig Silverstein, the director of technpogy for the company. As mentioned above, uProc is a powerful top for helping users manage their multiple accounts in one place. Despite its power, uProc does not support Gmail. Therefore, users have to use a third party top to merge two or more accounts of Gmail into one account. In this case, I use another top which integrates uProc and Gmail called “gTasks”. This top helps me to synchronize my Gmail with uProc because it synchronizes them under a single topbar. When I open my email account in gTasks, I can see all my emails in one window and I can perform all my actions of Gmail in the same window. More importantly, gTasks adds a new feature to Gmail to schedule emails to be sent at a future time. This feature makes Gmail more useful because users can now send emails by simply entering recipients’ email addresses and composing the email message without leaving Gmail. It also allows users to create tasks directly from their email by sending email messages to [email protected]. For example, when I receive an email from my friend requesting me to send my photos to her, I can directly create a task in gTasks so that I will not forget to send the photos to her. When I finish sending photos to her, she will receive them via email directly from gTasks without receiving duplicate emails from me.
