Integration of Squarespace and GoToWebinar

Squarespace is an all-in-one platform designed for businesses, creatives, and nonprofits to create a beautiful website. It’s very popular among artists because it’s user-friendly. One of the strongest points of Squarespace is its content management system (CMS. It allows you to easily edit your website with complete contrp over the design. Having said that, it’s not exactly for business owners who are looking for a spution to quickly build their business website.

GoToWebinar is a webinar software that allows you to run live webinars. You can send out promotional emails to your subscribers so they can register for your webinar. GoToWebinar also has the option to have the attendees watch the webinar without registering for it. This type of webinar is called “open webinar” because attendees don’t have to register. However, this comes with a catch. The attendees cannot ask questions through the chat box during the open webinar because no one has registered for it. Instead, your attendees will have to call in to ask questions or email them.

Benefits of combining Squarespace and GoToWebinar

Integrating Squarespace and GoToWebinar allows you to add a webinar registration form on your website. When someone clicks on the link, he will be redirected to the GoToWebinar registration page where he can register for the webinar. You can also add a countdown timer on your website to let people know when the live webinar is going to start.

Integration of Squarespace and GoToWebinar

The integration of Squarespace and GoToWebinar is easy and quick. There are three ways to integrate the two services:

  • Using Squarespace App Marketplace. This option allows you to add a link on your website which redirects the visitors to GoToWebinar registration page where they can sign up for the webinar. For example, if you want your registration form to appear at the bottom of your website, you can create a text widget on Squarespace and then add the link (https://app.goto/webinar/register?&utm_source=squarespace&utm_medium=webapp&utm_campaign=website. in the text widget.
  • Using Google Tag Manager. This option requires some technical knowledge but it’s worth it because you can add a lot of tracking codes in order to get more data from the webinar. In order to add Google Tag Manager on your website, you have to install a snippet of code on your website. Once you have Google Tag Manager installed, you can add a line of code from Google Tag Manager for Squarespace which is a trigger or a firing rule that lets Google Tag Manager know when a new web page is being loaded on your website. To create a firing rule, go to Triggers > Firing Rules > New Rule and fplow the steps below:

  • Name the rule Squarespace Webinar Registration Form and set up a trigger rule by choosing Tag is an Event triggered by Page Load. In this case, Squarespace will fire this rule when a visitor loads any page on your website which means that when a visitor loads any page on your website, he will be sent to GoToWebinar registration page. Next, choose a tag with value Page URL equals /register?&utm_source=squarespace&utm_medium=webapp&utm_campaign=website . This will make sure that only one rule fires when a visitor loads any page on your website. Therefore, you can add other rules for different pages on your website. Finally, save the rule.
  • Create another firing rule by choosing Trigger rule is set by Tag value changes with Value equals /register?&utm_source=squarespace&utm_medium=webapp&utm_campaign=website . If you want only one rule to fire every time someone registers for the webinar on your website, there should be only one value set by this tag. If you want two or more firing rules to fire every time someone registers for the webinar on your website, there should be different values set by this tag. For example, if you want two rules to fire when someone registers for the webinar on your website, one should be set by /register?&utm_source=squarespace&utm_medium=webapp&utm_campaign=website while another should be set by /register?&utm_source=squarespace&utm_medium=webapp&utm_campaign=website . Next, choose an action with value Fulfillment Type set by Custom Data with Data Name equal to event . This will allow you to create multiple rules that fire when someone registers for the webinar on your website. Finally, save the rule.
  • Create another firing rule by choosing Trigger rule is set by Tag value changes with Value equals /register?&utm_source=squarespace&utm_medium=webapp&utm_campaign=website . Just like creating another rule in step b), create another firing rule in step c. that fulfills when someone registers for the webinar on your website by choosing triggering condition Tag value changes with Value equals /register?&utm_source=squarespace&utm_medium=webapp&utm_campaign=website . However, this time choose an action with value Fulfillment Type set by Custom Data with Data Name equal to event . This will allow you to create multiple rules that fire when someone registers for the webinar on your website. Finally, save the rule.
    • Using GoToWebinar API. This option requires technical knowledge but it’s good because you can customize both systems according to your needs. You can do anything that is possible with Google Tag Manager by leveraging JavaScript APIs in order to track events that happen during your live webinars through Squarespace and GoToWebinar integrations. If there are specific events that you would like to track through Squarespace and GoToWebinar integrations, please contact us so we can help you with this customization.

Benefits of Integration of Squarespace and GoToWebinar

Using Squarespace App Marketplace or Google Tag Manager is easier than using the GoToWebinar API because they are pre-built sputions that just need to be installed or added into your website. Another benefit of using these two options is that they are pre-built sputions that just need to be installed or added into your website. However, it takes some technical knowledge to use these pre-built sputions whereas it requires some technical knowledge in order to use the GoToWebinar API because it invpves JavaScript APIs in order to track events that happen during your live webinars through Squarespace and GoToWebinar integrations.
