Square is a mobile payment system which enables businesses to accept credit cards and debit cards through their smartphones. These subscription costs make Sina Weibo less popular than other social media platforms in China such as Tencent Weibo, whose free model attracts many more Internet users. However, Sina Weibo enjoys popularity among some groups such as journalists, celebrities, official organizations and ppitical commentators who need anonymity or wider dissemination than offered by mainstream Chinese social media websites such as Tencent Weibo.
