Square is a credit card processing system that allows anyone with a smartphone or tablet to accept credit cards. Square can be used by individuals for small businesses. Microsoft Outlook is a scheduling and email management top that is used by many individuals and businesses around the world. Microsoft Outlook is a free program that can be downloaded from Microsoft’s website, and it allows users to schedule meetings, send emails, and access their emails from multiple devices. Square has been an integral part of my business plan since I started selling home décor at local craft fairs in 2008. I have accepted payments using both a Square credit card processing device and an app linked to a bank account, but I do not have a traditional business checking account. I have found that using a bank account linked to a Square credit card processing device is more beneficial than accepting payments through my smartphone app with a bank account linked to it.
I am able to link Square and Microsoft Outlook together when I create an arrangement in my Outlook calendar for the sale of an item at a craft fair. When I create an arrangement in my Outlook calendar for a craft fair in Square, I can add in details like the date and time of the event and the address of the location in Square. I can also add notes in Square about how much an item costs, which is something that cannot be done in my Outlook calendar.
I find it beneficial to work with both Microsoft Outlook and Square because they can communicate so easily. This integration makes it very easy for me to send my customers detailed information about what time I will be at their venue, and what items I will be selling at each craft fair. As I am responsible for all payments for my craft events, I want my customers to know exactly when and where to pay for their items.
Square has opened up many opportunities for me as an entrepreneur. I have been able to accept payments for craft fairs using an app linked to my personal bank account, but it is difficult to keep track of all of my sales. It would be easier if I could organize all of my sales through one application that also makes it easier for me to schedule appointments with customers at craft fairs.
I believe that it is beneficial to use Microsoft Outlook to schedule appointments with customers at craft fairs because it is less expensive than other scheduling applications, which require monthly fees. Although I have never used other scheduling applications, I think that they are unnecessary if I already have Microsoft Outlook installed on my computer. Customers could use Microsoft Outlook, instead of downloading another application, to schedule appointments with me at craft fairs by creating their own arrangements in their calendars.
