Spotify is a music streaming service that enables users to listen to their favorite artists and playlists on-demand. In 2006, Spotify was founded by Daniel Ek, Niklas Zennström, and Martin Lorentzon. The company headquarters are located in Stockhpm, Sweden, and they have offices in several cities across the world including New York, London, Paris, and Tokyo. Earlier this year, Spotify merged with the Artificial Intelligence (AI. company, Mighty AI. This merger will “drive machine learning-based recommendations for existing Spotify features, including Discover Weekly and Daily Mixes.” Spotify has over 180 million active users.
Pipedrive is a sales and marketing automation platform that helps businesses increase productivity and get more out of their resources. The company was founded in 2011 by Timo Rein and Heikki Vähä-Herttua. Their mission is to “help businesses achieve their goals by making sales and marketing easy”. In October 2017, Pipeline.com acquired Pipedrive for $1 billion. They also have offices in San Francisco, New York City, Tartu, Estonia; St Petersburg, Russia; and Sydney, Australia.
In June 2017, Spotify announced that they were integrating with Pipedrive and would be able to access sales pipeline data directly from the platform. The integration between the two platforms is done through the Pipedrive API which allows users to “manage your sales pipeline from anywhere”. There are a few ways in which business users can integrate Pipedrive data with Spotify:

Users can access their Pipedrive data directly from the search bar within Spotify or can view their data within Salesforce and Salesforce lists through Pipedrive. By integrating with Salesforce, Pipedrive automatically syncs all data into Salesforce without any additional input from users. For example, if you have a contact on Pipedrive that you want to add to your Salesforce CRM as a new lead, it will prompt you if there is already an existing lead within Salesforce; if there is not one within Salesforce, then the contact from Pipedrive will be added as a new lead. If there is already a lead on Salesforce with the same information as the contact from Pipedrive, then the contact from Pipedrive will be added as a new contact record within Salesforce.
Having an integrated CRM system with a direct connection to Spotify means that users can pull up data on leads and contacts right within Spotify without ever having to leave the application. This is extremely helpful when looking for leads in order to activity fplow-up or if you are trying to find the right person within your database for a potential deal. The integration also allows for seamless sharing of data across both platforms. For example, if you have a potential customer that you want to share with your salesperson but do not have their contact information readily available, you can search for them in Spotify using their email address or name and if they are connected to Pipedrive through someone else in your database or another contact within Spotify you can easily share the information with them through one click. Through the integration, users can also save time by having Pipedrive sync all information into Salesforce instead of having to manually enter everything into Salesforce separately from Pipedrive. This saves time because once Salesforce is updated with any new data, those updates are also pushed back into Spotify. The integration between the two platforms also allows users to easily view their entire sales pipeline in one place rather than having to go back and forth between multiple applications and sites for different data points about the potential deals they are working on.
Since integrating with Spotify this past June, Pipedrive has seen drastic increases in revenue retention rate and average deal size. Based on a report by TechCrunch, Pipedrive’s average deal size increased 31% while their revenue retention increased by 553%. Additionally, “the number of customers activating their accounts also increased by 126% after the integration”. This proves how much easier it makes it to be able to see every piece of sales pipeline data in one place instead of having to go back and forth between multiple apps for different types of data about each deal being worked on. It will be interesting to see how this integration continues to grow going forward as both companies continue to innovate and develop new ways to make it easier for users to streamline their sales process and increase productivity.
