Snapchat is an app that allows the user to take photos and then send it to others. The photos are known as “snapchats” and these are sent to others through a messaging service. The app also allows users to add text, draw on the image, and add filters. This can be done before or after sending the message. The messages disappear after they are opened. The app also contains stories where users can post messages for a 24 hour period. Stories are viewed by all of the user’s friends or fplowers. (Benedict, 2016)
Chatter is a social platform used by many high schop students. They use this platform for socializing and communicating with friends. Users can create profiles with pictures and videos. They can also post statuses about what they are doing or how they feel. Many students have connected their snapchat accounts to their Chatter accounts so that in order to view their stories, one must fplow them on Chatter as well. (Benedict, 2016)
Snapchat and Chatter are both used by teens and cplege students for socializing and communicating with friends. Both platforms have unique qualities that make each more interesting than the other. Integration of the two platforms would allow for a more interactive experience for users. For example, if users were to activate their Chatter account on their Snapchat profile, then whenever they sent a “snapchat” it would appear on their Chatter profile as well. Chatter is where most teens first post things like statuses or stories. These statuses would be posted to the user’s Snapchat profile as well. In addition, when users open a “snapchat” they may see a link at the top that says “View Story on Chatter” or something similar. If they click on this link they will be directed to their Chatter profile where they can view the story from snapchat. This would allow for a more interactive experience for users than just using one platform or the other. (Benedict, 2016)
When Snapchat and Chatter are integrated it creates a more interactive experience for users than either platform alone. When a user sends a “snapchat” it would be posted to their Chatter account as well which makes it easier for them to communicate with their peers. In addition, when a user opens a “snapchat” they receive a link at the top that says “View Story on Chatter” or similar words. If they click on this link they will be directed to their Chatter profile where they can view the message from snapchat. This makes it easier for them to interact with their friends on Chatter as well as Snapchat without having to switch between two different apps. It also helps make it less confusing if friends have both snapchat and chatter because they can view all of their friends stories on the same portal. (Benedict, 2016)
In conclusion I believe that integrating Snapchat and Chatter would make socializing much easier and less confusing to users of both platforms. Integrating the two platforms would facilitate communication between users of both platforms. This would help to increase interaction between friends and peers.
