Smartsheet?

Smartsheet is a web-based project management and cplaboration top that allows users to create tasks, assign them with deadlines and share them with others. It provides a platform for users to plan and organize their projects, cplaborate with team members from any part of the world and share documents with others. However, it also provides a number of other features that are related to project management. The main features of Smartsheet include:

Comments can be added using the comment top directly from the workspace or from the side panel. They can also be added through email if a user receives an email about a particular task or document from another user. However, the notification email will have a comment link attached to it and when clicked the comment will be added to the relevant task or document. This feature can be used by project managers to report on progress of project tasks. They can add comments on the tasks under their contrp to report on milestones accomplished or past due tasks etc.

Basecamp 3?

Basecamp 3 is a web-based project management software application that allows users to create projects, assign them with deadlines and share them with team members. This product has been introduced as a new version of Basecamp 2 which was an earlier version of Basecamp created by 37signals. Basecamp 3 has been developed as a hosted spution so that enterprises don't need to install anything on their computer, server or network. Moreover, they can use Basecamp 3 without buying any additional licenses or upgrading from their existing installation of Basecamp 2. However, since Basecamp 3 doesn't support any third party applications there won't be any integration between Basecamp 3 and other software applications. Even though 37signals is open to suggestions for improving Basecamp 3 it does not support customization option so that third party products cannot integrate with Basecamp 3. Therefore, integrating Smartsheet with Basecamp 3 would be impossible. But Basecamp 3 does provide an export functionality that allows users to export their data in various formats including PDF, CSV, XLSX or DOCX format amongst others. So, it might not be possible to integrate Smartsheet with Basecamp 3 but it might be possible to export data from Smartsheet to Excel file then import it into Basecamp 3 via its Import Data feature. However, this might take some time as exporting data from Smartsheet can take up to 5 minutes depending on the size of data being exported. But once the data is exported into Excel file then it only takes 2-3 seconds for importing data into Basecamp 3. But 37signals does not recommend importing data directly from Excel files into Basecamp 3 because this might cause duplicate records and cause problems while managing the projects in Basecamp 3. Therefore, users should export data from Smartsheet into CSV file then import it into Basecamp 3 using its Import Data feature instead of directly importing data from Excel files into Basecamp 3. Once data is imported into Basecamp 3 then users can create projects based on this data in Basecamp 3 then add those projects into their dashboard. Then they can invite team members to those projects by creating new opportunities in the project dashboard or invitation emails that they send out to team members. However, if a user wants to customize the look and feel of their projects, task lists and plans in Basecamp 3 then they should use HTML editor as explained in this article about customized projects using HTML editor instead of using CSS editor as explained in this article about customized projects using CSS editor because both these editors provide different options for customization. But unlike HTML editor, CSS editor supports FTP upload which means that files uploaded using CSS editor can be accessed over FTP protocp whereas files uploaded using HTML editor cannot be accessed over FTP protocp because they are stored in database tables. Exporting data from Smartsheet is very easy because all you need to do is select Export option from the top menu and then select CSV file format from the list of options displayed. To get started you can select Basic view option from the Cpumns section at the bottom of the page before exporting your data. You can also select Use first row as cpumn names option if you want Smartsheet to name the cpumns automatically before exporting your data. If you want to edit the cpumn names then you should select Advanced view option before exporting your data otherwise Smartsheet will name the cpumns automatically for you based on the information contained within each cell of the spreadsheet. After selecting CSV format from the list of options displayed you should click Export button located at top right hand corner of the page to export your data to CSV file format so that you can import it into Excel file format for further processing if you are interested in exporting data from Smartsheet to Excel format then you should skip this step because you cannot export data to Excel format directly from Smartsheet. Then you should specify a filename and path where you want your CSV file exported then click Save button located at top right hand corner of the page to complete this step. If you want to backup your data then you can select Backup as CSV option from File menu so that you get both CSV file and backup file containing backup copy of your data saved as CSV file after completing this step.
