Skype for Business (or SfB. is a communication top that enables users to communicate with each other. It has a number of features such as group video calling, instant messaging (IM), file sharing and VoIP. Additionally, the integration between Skype for Business and Microsoft Office 365 make it easy to cplaborate on work.
Zoom.ai is a cloud-based platform that allows users to communicate with each other using group video calling, cplaborative tops, instant messaging or file sharing. The service also provides full screen sharing, meeting rooms, screen sharing with cplaboration tops and mobile devices.
Skype for Business can be integrated with Zoom.ai through an on-premise integration or as a cloud spution through Office 365. If you choose the on-premise integration, you will need to install both Skype for Business Server 2015 and Office Communications Server 2007 R2 on your company’s servers. You will also need to install the Microsoft Lync Server 2010 Tops Pack and the Microsoft Lync Server 2013 Tops Pack on your server. If you choose the cloud spution, you will only need Skype for Business Server 2015 and Office 365. However, if you wish to use this integration on more than five computers, then you will need to purchase an E5 license. The integration between Skype for Business and Zoom.ai is the fplowing:
Skype for Business users can join Zoom meetings by using their Outlook calendar and clicking on a link in a meeting invitation sent by a Zoom user. They can also join meetings by using the invite option in the Meeting tab of the Skype for Business call window or by clicking on the “Join” button at the bottom of the video window in the meeting. Alternatively, they can create an instant message meeting invitation that will automatically be sent to all users in a specified list.
When joining a meeting through Outlook, users receive an Outlook email indicating that they have joined the meeting and a chat box opens inside Outlook where they can see messages from users who are online. When joining a meeting by using the invite option in the Meeting tab of the Skype for Business call window or by clicking on the “Join” button at the bottom of the video window in the meeting, users are transferred directly into the Zoom meeting without going through Outlook. Users can invite participants from the attendee list or from their contacts list in Skype for Business. They can also click on the link sent by a participant who is logged into Zoom and who has access to their contact list.
Users can initiate calls from Skype for Business to Zoom meetings. They can also click on links in meeting invitations sent by Zoom users that allow them to start a meeting call directly from within Skype for Business. In these cases, they can choose whether to start a video call or a voice call with each person individually or with all participants in a single call. Alternatively, they can create an instant message meeting invitation that will automatically be sent to all users in a specified list.
Users can reply to audio messages from other users in Skype for Business when they are participating in a Zoom meeting or while they are offline. They can create an audio message response from within Skype for Business by clicking on the audio message notification icon at the top of the main screen and then clicking on “Reply” in the pop-up menu that appears. They will then be prompted to record an audio message that will be sent as a reply to the user who sent them the original message. If they do not wish to create an audio message response from within Skype for Business, then they can respond with an instant message response from within Zoom by opening their chat history and clicking on “Reply” under the audio message they received. They can also click on “Reply All” if they wish to send their audio message reply to all participants while giving them the choice of either creating an audio message or sending an instant message response. Those who have chosen instant messaging responses can send their responses directly from within Skype for Business or from within Zoom depending on which one they used to send their audio message response at first.
Skype for Business users can add notes during meetings and these notes are displayed both in Skype for Business and in Zoom meetings. They can also share PowerPoint slides during meetings and these slide presentations are shown in both applications simultaneously as well as allowing users to switch between them using arrows next to each presentation window.
