  • Integration of Skype for Business and StoryChief
  • Skype for business can be easily integrated with StoryChief using the standard API’s available for both of these tops. StoryChief has an ability to work with different kinds of applications and there are numerous ways in which the integration can be done. These methods are listed below.

    • Using the REST API’s:

    REST API’s are useful when we need to integrate our applications with multiple applications at a time. The process is very simple and easy to fplow. Let’s see how it is done. First of all log in to your Skype for business account. Then go to the app launcher by clicking on the settings gear icon in the top right corner of your screen. Click on the “Configure apps” option present in the list of options given. After that you will be taken to the “Connected services” page where you will see various apps that are currently installed in your skype for business account. Find StoryChief in the list of apps and click on “connect” button given on the same row which is situated over the respective app name. On clicking this button you will be asked to grant permission to StoryChief to access some of your skype for business features like creating, updating and deleting meetings automatically. After granting permissions, you can start using StoryChief with your skype for business account. To integrate StoryChief with skype for business using the REST API’s fplow these steps:

    Step 1. Open your web browser and log in to your skype for business account.

    Step 2. Go to the app launcher by clicking on the settings gear icon present in the top right corner of your screen. Click on the “Configure apps” option present in the list of options given. After that you will be taken to the “Connected services” page where you will see various apps that are currently installed in your skype for business account. Find StoryChief in the list of apps and click on “connect” button given on the same row which is situated over the respective app name. On clicking this button you will be asked to grant permission to StoryChief to access some of your skype for business features like creating, updating and deleting meetings automatically. After granting permissions, you can start using StoryChief with your skype for business account. You can now track what skype for business is doing with regard to your StoryChief stories as it is sending these actions back to skype for business via the webhooks, which is nothing but a notification sent by an application when it does any activity with another application.

    • Using Microsoft Flow :

    Microsoft flow is a free automation top which helps in connecting different applications together and automate repetitive tasks. To integrate StoryChief with skype for business using Microsoft flow fplow these steps:

    Step 1. Open your web browser and log in to your skype for business account.

    Step 2. Go to the app launcher by clicking on the settings gear icon present in the top right corner of your screen. Click on the “Configure apps” option present in the list of options given. After that you will be taken to the “Connected services” page where you will see various apps that are currently installed in your skype for business account. Find StoryChief in the list of apps and click on “connect” button given on the same row which is situated over the respective app name. On clicking this button you will be asked to grant permission to StoryChief to access some of your skype for business features like creating, updating and deleting meetings automatically. After granting permissions, you can start using StoryChief with your skype for business account. Now open Microsoft flow online and create a new flow . In this flow you will add two actions by clicking on “+ Create an action” option present in the left side bar of Microsoft flow online . In first action click on “Microsoft Teams connector” then select “New task channel” option from drop down menu . Then specify your skype team channel then hit save . Now click on”+Create an action” again and this time click on “Webhooks connector” option . Specify your webhook URL (which can be obtained by going to any one of your existing stories created via StoryChief. . Then specify whether this webhook call should be made only once or repeatedly while each story is created . Then click save . Now create an action and click on “App connector” option . From drop down menu select “Story Chief Connector” option . This will open a new page where you have to enter your app id , app secret and redirect uri which can be obtained by fplowing steps mentioned above about integration using REST API’s . Once all information is entered hit save . Now create another action and click on “Mail connector” option . From drop down menu select “Send mail action” option . Hit save . Now click trigger button which will open a new window where you have to configure trigger conditions . You can choose whichever trigger condition suits you . Now create an action and click on “Flowchart connector” option . From drop down menu select “New flowchart action” option . Then hit save . Now final step is to create another action and click on “Email connector” option . From drop down menu select “Send email action” option . Hit save . Now click finish option at bottom of screen . That completes integration process between Microsoft flow and StoryChief . Now when ever any story is created via StoryChief it gets added on skype team channel of your choice . You can then fetch this message from that channel by searching for keyword . StoryChief or story-chief. You can also schedule a meeting automatically whenever any story is created by sending an email through microsoft flow anytime after any story is created using StoryChief. Note . Apart from email triggers , you can also set up triggers based on events like adding/removing users from group , adding/deleting/changing memberships , sharing story etc . Then select zap option from drop down menu and give title as Story Chief . When prompted , select Realtime Webhooks as trigger
