  • Skype for Business?
  • Skype for Business is a recent software application that has been developed by Microsoft. It was launched by Microsoft in 2015 and is used for business purposes. The software is integrated with Office 365 and works along with Exchange mailbox. This software is designed to deliver enterprise-grade video, calling, online meetings, voice mail, and conferencing services. The Skype for Business service can be accessed through mobile devices as well as desktops. It is used by organizations around the world to communicate with each other.

  • MongoDB Realm?
  • MongoDB Realm is an open-source database platform that has been written in Java. It is also one of the most popular NoSQL databases. The database features for this software are cross-platform support, flexible data model, dynamic schema, rich query language, automatic failover, replication, and high availability. It features a document-oriented data model that is suitable for programming languages such as JavaScript, Perl, Python, Ruby, PHP, C#, C++, etc. To make it work, the software only requires MongoDB Community Edition to be installed on the machine. The MongoDB Community Edition comes with a non-commercial license which means it can be used by developers without having to pay any licensing fees.

  • Integration of Skype for Business and MongoDB Realm
  • Integration of Skype for Business and MongoDB Realm could be done using MongooseIM S4B connector. This connector can be installed on any Windows or Linux machine that is running MongooseIM. It supports all the large scale deployments where there are thousands of deployment units present. It also provides users with an option to connect to thousands of instances of Skype for Business at the same time. Users can select either direct connection or gateway connection for connecting to Skype for Business servers. This connector can be used with any version of Skype for Business such as the latest version of Skype for Business 2016, Skype for Business 2015 and Skype for Business Online. The connector can be downloaded from the website of MongooseIM.

When it comes to the installation of Skype for Business connector for MongooseIM, users need to fplow three steps:

Download and unzip the connector zip file and then copy it into <mongodb_installation_dir>/bin directory. If the <mongodb_installation_dir> directory does not exist then users can create it themselves. Now we will need to add some system variables in order to make sure that MongooseIM server can communicate with Skype for Business server. For this purpose, we will need to open the <mongodb_installation_dir>/conf/mongoserver.conf file and paste these two lines at the end of the file. export MONGOSERVER=<mongodb_installation_dir>/bin/mongoose_s4b_server export MONGOSERVERARGS="--s4bUrl=$S4B_URL --useSSL --username $S4BUSERNAME --password $S4BPASSWORD" We will now need to add our credentials so that MongooseIM server can communicate with Skype for Business server. For this purpose, we will need to open mongooserver.conf file again and add our credentials on new lines below MONGOSERVERARGS command. export S4BUSERNAME=<skype_for_business_server>admin export S4BPASSWORD=<your_password> Now we can start MongooseIM server by running the fplowing command in a terminal. <mongodb_installation_dir>/bin/mongod -f /etc/mongodb.conf -d We can now configure our MongooseIM server by running mongooseimctl config setup <mongooseim_db> In this step we will need to enter our database credentials which we have created in Step 4 of the previous instruction list. After entering our credentials we will need to run mongooseimctl config setup <mongooseim_db>. After that we will need to run mongooseimctl config setup <mongooseim_db>. This final step will ensure that our MongooseIM server is configured properly and it has been successfully connected with the Skype for Business server which we have entered during Step 4 of previous instruction list. At this point, we can start using our MongooseIM Server by running the fplowing command in a terminal. <mongodb_installation_dir>/bin/mongos -f /etc/mongodb.conf -d

  • Benefits of Integration of Skype for Business and MongoDB Realm
  • There are various benefits of integrating Skype for Business and MongoDB Realm together which are mentioned below:

Ease in Deployment & Scalability. Integration of both these systems could provide users with ease when it comes to deployment and scalability of their systems because they do not need to maintain separate servers anymore which were required earlier in order to deploy Skype for Business and MongoDB Realm together. This integration makes it easier for users to deploy their applications in cloud environment where they do not require any local servers or installations or administrative rights to deploy applications like they do in case of on-premises platforms like Microsoft Exchange Server 2013. This integration could also help users in achieving scalability by taking advantage of cloud infrastructure like Amazon Web Services (AWS. or Microsoft Azure because both these platforms support MongoDB Realm as well as Skype for Business applications by providing them with scalable infrastructure capability like auto scaling or elasticity which are needed in cases where users are expecting huge amounts of traffic or data processing requirements. These cloud providers are highly reliable when it comes to safely storing data because they have strong security measures in place which are necessary when it comes to storing sensitive information like private documents or other corporate data which could prove beneficial to organizations who are looking forward to migrating their existing on-premises applications into cloud environment due to its cost effectiveness and easy maintenance capabilities. Cloud-based Applications. Integration of both these systems could also help organizations take advantage of cloud-based applications because they could easily integrate them by simply installing them on their cloud environments while taking advantage of their scalability capabilities, without having to worry about any limitations related to their on-premises deployments which are usually associated with them since they are hosted locally on premises hence they are only limited by their local resources which are prone to failure if there are not many administrative rights available or if they are not using virtual machines which could help them overcome these limitations by letting them divide their resources across multiple instances at the same time instead of being limited by one single instance at a time making them vulnerable towards single points of failure. This helps companies reduce costs while also improving overall performance of their business by increasing reliability and availability of apps by taking advantage of platform’s native features without having to incur additional costs. Improved User Experience. Integration of these two systems could also help organizations improve user experience since they could easily integrate them together without incurring any additional costs by taking advantage of cloud infrastructure given the fact that Skype for Business is a cloud based spution itself, therefore if organizations want to make use of it without incurring additional costs then they could do so very easily by simply integrating it with MongoDB Realm which is supported by many big players like IBM Cloudant or Cloudant Lift Analytics etc., hence organizations do not have to worry about licensing issues or having to pay licensing fees before deploying these applications because they already come with free licenses as part of their cloud offerings provided by Microsoft Azure or IBM Cloud etc., hence organizations do not need to worry about spending money on licensing issues as well as high administrative costs associated with on-premises software installations which they would have needed otherwise in order to deploy these applications simultaneously because both these applications have been integrated together now so organizations do not have to worry about anything else other than deploying them both together on cloud infrastructure provided by big players like Microsoft Azure or IBM Cloud etc., hence organizations do not have to think about anything else as long as they have access to these cloud infrastructures.
