Sina Weibo? Sina Weibo, often translated as “microblogging” in English, is a Chinese microblogging website that is often referred to as the Twitter of China. It launched on August 21, 2009 and by January 2011 had become the country’s largest social network. In November 2014, Sina Corp. announced that it would invest $627 million in Mail.ru Group (now Mail.Ru Group. for an 18% stake in the Russian internet company through its subsidiary Sina Weibo Corporation Limited (which was renamed Weibo Corporation Limited after the investment. On December 11, 2015, Sina Corp. put its remaining 16% stake in Mail.Ru Group up for sale and announced that it was looking for potential buyers at a price of $2 billion to $3 billion.
