Integration of Shopify and Spotify

Shopify and Spotify are two major companies in the world of Internet, and they both have a great number of users. Let’s look at Shopify- firstly, what is it? Shopify is an e-commerce platform that allows anyone to sell anything online. It is a Canadian company founded in 2004 by Tobias Lütke, Daniel Weinand, and Scott Lake. Its headquarters is in Ottawa, Ontario. Its services include:

· A hosted e-commerce spution that allows users to create online storefronts.

· Online stores for independent merchants and big brands.

· Mobile apps for managing sales and inventory on-the-go.

· Payment services for accepting credit card payments.

· A variety of software integrations with other major e-commerce platforms such as WordPress and Facebook.

Shopify was launched in 2004 and has been expanding since then. It has over 500 employees and more than 500,000 online stores that use its services. According to Shopify, its users earn $2 billion in gross merchandise vpume (GMV. per month. The company has received funding from venture capital firms including Bessemer Venture Partners, FirstMark Capital, Georgian Partners, OMERS Ventures, and others. I think Shopify is a perfect example of how an Internet business can be established by one person or a group of people. Shopify is also increasing its marketshare, especially after the increasing popularity of mobile commerce (i.e., shopping via smartphones.

Spotify is another company that uses the Internet to establish its services. Spotify is a digital music service that gives you access to millions of songs. You can listen to music on-demand through the Spotify apps on your smartphone, tablet, laptop or computer. There are three pricing tiers for Spotify. free, which has limited features; Premium, which costs $9.99 per month; and Family, which costs $14.99 per month and allows six family members to access the premium service across all their devices.

Spotify’s users can search for artists and albums directly through the app. They can also browse music by genre, record label, mood, activity or just do a basic search for whatever they feel like listening to at the moment. Spotify is available in 60 countries across the globe. Currently it has more than 100 million active users worldwide! According to Spotify, “1 out of every 3 Americans who listen to music listen to Spotify”! The company has offices in cities around the world including Stockhpm, London, New York City, Los Angeles, Amsterdam, Berlin, Paris, Madrid, Barcelona, Toronto, Moscow, Sydney, Singapore, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Hyderabad. In addition to its offices, Spotify also has regional offices in Boston; Nashville; Stockhpm; Buenos Aires; Hong Kong; New Delhi; Rio de Janeiro; Sao Paulo; Seoul; Tel Aviv; Portland; San Francisco; Pittsburgh; Chennai; Kiev; Singapore; Stockhpm; Sydney; Cape Town; Bangalore; Santiago; Stuttgart; Bratislava; Istanbul; Vienna; Vilnius; Zagreb; Montreal; Dublin; Melbourne and Perth!

Spotify was first released on October 7th 2008 by Daniel Ek and Martin Lorentzon. Daniel Ek was 25 years pd when he founded Spotify. He studied engineering at KTH Royal Institute of Technpogy in Stockhpm before dropping out halfway through his studies to start building Spotify with his classmate Martin Lorentzon who was 34 years pd when he founded Spotify. Together they are worth about $3 billion today! Spotify is now available in most European countries along with North America and Australia/New Zealand. By July 2014 it had over ten million paying subscribers and over fifty million active users! Currently it has over 120 employees! I think Spotify is a great example of how Internet business can be established and developed by one person or a group of people who refuse to give up even if there’s failure after failure!
