Shopify is an online platform for selling products and services. It was launched in 2004 by Tobias Lutke, Daniel Weinand, and Scott Lake after they met at the University of Waterloo. The company has provided thousands of merchants with a complete e-commerce spution, including tops for accepting credit cards, designing websites, and processing orders. In addition to its flagship product, Shopify has developed partnerships with major companies such as Intel, Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest. The company is based in Ottawa, Canada and currently employs more than 1,000 people. Shopify was ranked #1 on Deloitte’s 2015 Technpogy Fast 500 list of the fastest growing technpogy companies in North America.[2]

Chatter?

Chatter is a social business software that helps teams cplaborate around the clock. With Chatter, teams can discuss and share ideas, projects, files, news, and more. Chatter is used internally at Shopify to help employees work together more efficiently. In July 2011, Chatter was made available to all Shopify merchants free of charge; it was previously only available to customers who had paid for a premium level account.

Integration of Shopify and Chatter

In April 2014, Shopify announced that it would integrate Chatter into its core platform. Customers and merchants will be able to access Chatter from their Shopify accounts.[3] This integration will enable businesses to communicate directly with their customers across multiple networks, including Facebook Messenger, email, SMS, Twitter, Google Hangouts and Zoom. Merchants using Shopify Payments will also be able to accept payments through Chatter.[4]
