First, I will discuss what ShipStation is. ShipStation is a cloud-based e-commerce shipping platform that allows merchants to ship orders via USPS, UPS, FedEx, DHL, and more. It allows the user to track shipments and also provides a customer portal to allow customers to track their own orders. ShipStation integrates with dozens of other platforms for order management, including OneNote.
Next, I will discuss what OneNote is. OneNote is a note taking application that can be used on Windows, Windows Phone, Android, iOS, and MacOS. OneNote allows users to create notes, notebooks, sections, and pages within the app. The notes can be added to a notebook or section and can be organized into the notebooks, sections, and pages. OneNote has three different types of notes. text notes, audio notes, and picture notes. Each note type contains its own unique features.
ShipStation integrates with OneNote in two ways. First is through the use of a OneNote App for ShipStation which generates a notebook within your OneNote account. The notebook will contain all the shipments created from ShipStation. If the merchant has any shared shipments with their customer via ShipStation then it will also include those shipments. Second is by using the OneNote API where merchants can send tracking numbers directly to OneNote during the shipment process so the shipment can be organized into the notebook as it is happening.
One benefit of integration of ShipStation and OneNote is organization. By creating a notebook within OneNote one can organize all their shipments organized in one place. This makes it easy to find shipments. Another benefit is keyword search. With all the shipments in one place it can make it easier to find shipments if you know the keywords of the shipment. A third benefit is data backup. When you export your shipments from ShipStation into OneNote you are also exporting the descriptions of the shipments so you always have a copy of that data if anything happens to your shipments or your shipment data in ShipStation.
