In this paper I want to discuss the integration of TimeCamp and SharePoint.

SharePoint?

SharePoint is a web-based platform for information sharing and document management for small to medium-sized organizations. It allows users to create and organize a wide variety of content, including documents, lists, contacts, discussions, tasks, and more. A key advantage of SharePoint over competing web-based document management tops is that it integrates with Microsoft Office applications, allowing users to edit documents from within those applications. In addition, SharePoint provides an enterprise-level approach to cplaboration, which is critical for most businesses.

  • Integration of SharePoint and Time Camp
  • Integration of SharePoint and Time Camp is done by connecting Time Camp to SharePoint via Web Parts. By doing this you can track time spent on every document in SharePoint. If there are multiple people working on document at the same time you can see who did what and when. You can also see who’s working on your projects and which project is consuming the most amount of time. The integration of Time Camp and SharePoint gives you an overview of which project creates/consumes most time. If there are multiple people working on the same project then you can also see how much time each person has spent on the project. The integration of Time Camp and SharePoint lets you track time on every document in SharePoint. By doing this you can easily see if someone has worked on a document or not. This way you can keep track of which user has worked on the document and when he/she has worked on it. If someone has added comments to a document then you will be able to see that too. You can also communicate with that person by using E-mail or instant messaging functionality in TimeCamp. When someone replies to your message in TimeCamp then it will be added to the history tab in SharePoint. Whenever someone adds a comment, no matter if it’s text or tags, it will be added to the bottom of the document in SharePoint. Tags can be used for filtering purposes, for example you can filter all the documents where John Doe has worked on according to tags he has added to them. E-mail functionality in TimeCamp can be used to communicate with someone even when that person is not online. For example if you have sent a comment through E-mail using TimeCamp then that person will receive it when they log in next time even if they are offline. Instant messaging functionality in TimeCamp can be used to communicate with someone even when they are offline. You can write a message to someone when they are offline and they will receive it when they log in next time even if they are offline. Once someone replies to your message in TimeCamp then it will be added to the history tab in SharePoint even if they are offline. While viewing a document in SharePoint you can easily add comments by using Commenting feature in TimeCamp; this way you can add comments without having to leave the document window. When you add a new comment in TimeCamp then it will be added to the bottom of the document in SharePoint; if there’s already a comment in the document then new comment will be added above it. You can use tags while adding comments; tags allow filtering of comments, for example you can filter all the documents where John Doe has worked on according to tags he has added to them. While viewing a document in SharePoint you don’t need to switch back and forth between TimeCamp and SharePoint; all you need is sharepoint window open on one side and TimeCamp window open on another side so you can add comments directly from TimeCamp while viewing the document in SharePoint.

  • Integration of SharePoint and Time Camp is beneficial for sharing files between team members since everyone can access files even if they live in different places. Integration of SharePoint and Time Camp makes it easy to keep track of who has worked on what and when they have worked on it.
