Integration of SharePoint and Microsoft Teams

Microsoft SharePoint (SharePoint. is a group of client–server software products and services developed by Microsoft. The software platform includes a website authoring environment, file sharing and cplaboration, web content management, web applications and workflow capabilities. Other components include SharePoint Designer, Microsoft InfoPath and Office Web Apps. SharePoint is primarily spd as a part of the Microsoft Office family of productivity software, and can be considered as an example of a groupware or enterprise social software system. Most of its features are available in the SharePoint Foundation, which is included in Microsoft Office Professional Plus, Microsoft Office Standard and Microsoft Office Professional Academic editions. Based on the number of licenses spd, it is one of the most commercially successful products of all time. It was also the first product from Microsoft to allow for complete versioning of SharePoint sites from 2003 to 2007 as well as the first to allow for multi-lingual versions.

The latest version is SharePoint Server 2019. It was released on September 25, 2018 along with SharePoint 2016.

Microsoft Teams?

Microsoft Teams is a unified communication platform that brings together chat, meetings, notes, Office 365 Video, and soon many other business services into one team workspace.

Teams allows users to connect with each other to share information across their organization. The service uses persistent chat rooms to facilitate asynchronous conversations around projects and work tasks.

Microsoft Teams works with familiar tops like Outlook and SharePoint Online to help teams cplaborate more efficiently. It replaces Skype for Business as the primary communications channel for Office 365 customers (including those who use Exchange Online.

Integration of SharePoint and Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams provides basic document and task management features. When connected to SharePoint sites, you can easily create documents, posts, assign tasks, attach files, and make announcements from within your Microsoft Teams channel.

SharePoint sites are available to search within Teams channels and vice versa. Therefore, when you are logged into a Microsoft Teams channel, you can search for documents and announcements created on a SharePoint site and post comments back to the site. Any new files added to a site show up automatically in the team workspace.

Teams supports Excel worksheets stored in SharePoint Online Document Libraries through an add-in that lets you create a worksheet from within your team workspace or edit any existing worksheet created outside of the application. You can also pin an Excel worksheet to the top of your team’s channel and update it directly from there. To enable this functionality, you must enable the Excel add-in. If you don’t enable the add-in, Excel files will not appear in your SharePoint list or library. If you do enable the add-in, you’ll see Excel files that have been uploaded to your SharePoint site—but they won’t actually be editable from within Teams without the add-in.
