Integration of SharePoint and FuseDesk

SharePoint

SharePoint is a web-based application that you can use to create websites, intranets, workflows, and much more. It is a cplaboration platform specifically designed for organizations to share information, develop business processes, and build cplaborative relationships with customers, partners, and employees. For example, you can use SharePoint to create a team site in order to facilitate communication between members of different offices or departments or to host your corporate blog.

SharePoint also supports multiple languages. SharePoint contains built-in support for multiple languages, letting users translate documents into their own language. As you can see in Figure 3–1, it uses the same interface across all languages supported by the system.

FuseDesk

FuseDesk is an enterprise asset management software for IT teams. It’s designed to provide real-time visibility into all your assets—hardware, software, services, even people—so you can improve IT efficiency. With FuseDesk, you can track inventory levels, plan for capacity needs, forecast costs, reduce risk, save time, and prevent problems.

Integration of SharePoint and FuseDesk

Using FuseDesk’s Asset Management module in SharePoint 2010, you can extend the asset management capabilities of SharePoint to include physical assets, such as servers, PCs, PDAs, projectors, etc. Additionally, you can also include software assets within SharePoint. So now you have a single view of all assets which are available to the user community. You can see this in action in Figure 3–2.

With this integration, you can also use the Asset Health module to link items with Asset Management items. For example, if a server is down, you can navigate directly to that item in Asset Management and find out why it isn’t working correctly. The integration saves time because you don’t have to open two separate applications to perform due diligence on an asset. This integration also makes it easier to manage assets because it eliminates duplicate data entry by using the same metadata for both applications.
