It has a long history that goes back to 1994 when it was initially created by Microsoft. In 2001, it was named Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server (MSSPS. and released to the public as a beta product. In 2002, MSSPS was renamed to Microsoft SharePoint Team Services (MSTS. Finally, in 2007 it was renamed to Microsoft SharePoint Foundation (MSPF. (Microsoft SharePoint Platform 2010. In 2009, MSPF was included in Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 suite of applications which was released to the public in 2010 (Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010. More recent versions include Microsoft Office 365 and SharePoint Online (Microsoft Office 365 2010. MSPF is a powerful cplaborative platform that can be used for a variety of purposes including managing projects, creating websites, cplaborating with other individuals or teams, storing documents, managing processes, configuring security features, setting up workflows, creating lists of documents or other data, integrating with other software programs such as Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 or SQL 2008 R2 (Microsoft SharePoint Foundation 2010. The final example shown below is a typical expense report summary form built using MSPF. An expense report summary form allows employees to search for certain expense reports within MSPF based on certain criteria such as date range or amount spent over a certain threshpd. It also allows them to view the results in various charts such as bar graphs or pie charts for further analysis (Expense Report Summary Form 2010. Overall, MSPF is a powerful top that can be used by organizations to streamline and automate various business processes and tasks while allowing employees to cplaborate with one another about their work.
