SendGrid is a cloud-based email service that allows you to send, track and measure email campaigns. It provides users with a rich set of features including domain tracking, transactional email, deliverability insights, email templates, and much more.
Firebase Cloud Storage is a RESTful web service for storing and synchronizing data. Firebase allows its users to store JSON objects up to 5 GB and reference them using URLs.
SendGrid and Firebase are both great services for uploading and downloading files from the cloud but they are not integrated. They don’t offer any methods to access each other’s storage. However, if you are willing to get your hands dirty with some coding magic, you can integrate SendGrid and Firebase Cloud Storage without too much trouble.
SendGrid provides an API method called “POST/api/email/send” that allows developers to upload files to the server. This method takes a file_id parameter which represents the unique identifier of the file. The uploaded file is stored in S3 bucket under the specified prefix. After uploading, the email is sent by SendGrid.
Firebase Cloud Storage provides a similar method called “PUT” that allows developers to upload files to the server. This method takes a reference parameter which represents the unique identifier of the file. The uploaded file is stored in S3 bucket under the specified prefix. After uploading, an object is created in Firebase database which includes key-value pairs derived from uploaded file.
The integration process invpves calling SendGrid API method “POST/api/email/send” to upload a file to S3 bucket. The program then calls Firebase API method “PUT” to upload file to Firebase database.
So on the back-end side, you will need two independent scripts running concurrently that have access to the same S3 bucket. Both scripts will be sending emails through SendGrid and creating objects in Firebase database using Firebase API methods “POST/api/email/send” and “PUT” respectively.
