It is the largest software as a service company. In 2014, it became the second largest enterprise software company in the world after Microsoft. Salesforce is valued at $41 billion. eBay Inc. is an American online auction and e-commerce company with headquarters in San Jose, California. It was founded in 1995 by Pierre Omidyar. From 2008 to 2015, eBay’s revenue increased from $4.5 billion to $8.4 billion. Its website is accessible in 190 countries and has more than 140 million registered users. (eBay, n.d.)

For example, in September 2017, Salesforce announced that it would buy Demandware Inc., a leading e-commerce platform provider for $2.8 billion. Demandware helps retailers to manage their operations such as pricing, inventory and shipping from a single platform.
