Integration of Salesforce and Calendly

  • Introduction (Salesforce and Calendly)
  • Salesforce?

Salesforce is a cloud computing company that provides enterprise software for companies. It was founded by Marc Benioff in 1999 and is headquartered in San Francisco, California. Its users include employees at companies like IBM, American Express, Cisco, and Coca-Cpa. It offers customer relationship management, marketing automation, analytics, social tops, and business applications. (Salesforce)

    Calendly?

Calendly is an online scheduling top that allows users to easily schedule meetings. It allows users to create their own calendars and manage meeting times. It has features that allow them to send meeting invites to clients. (Calendly)

    (Integration of Salesforce and Calendly)

    Integration of Salesforce and Calendly

There are several ways of integrating Salesforce and Calendly. There are three ways that are specifically highlighted in this article:

    • Web App Connector
    • Force.com REST API
    • Force.com Web Actions
    • Web App Connector

The Web App Connector allows you to integrate your service with Salesforce. It’s called a connector because it connects two different systems together through a unified API. In this case, the connector enables Calendly to integrate with Salesforce. The benefit of using a connector is that it allows you to make calls from the Salesforce platform to another third party platform without needing to know how to write code in the third party platform’s language or understand how the platform works. All you need to do is be able to write code in the language of Salesforce, which is Apex. You can use the built in library that comes with the connector or you can develop your own library in Apex. (Salesforce Web App Connector)

    • Force.com REST API

The Force.com REST API is the main way of making REST web service calls to Salesforce objects and data from outside of Salesforce. It’s like making HTTP calls from outside of Salesforce but there are some differences between HTTP calls and REST API calls. An example of one difference is that HTTP requests and responses use headers while REST API requests and responses don’t have headers. Another difference is that HTTP requests and responses contain a message body while REST API requests and responses don’t contain a message body. (Force.com REST API Basics)

    • Force.com Web Actions

Web Actions are small pieces of JavaScript that can be dropped into HTML pages hosted on domains managed by Salesforce, such as www.example.com/page1/page2/page3/page4/page5/page6/page7/page8/page9/. This enables you to add functionality to your pages without having to change any code on those pages or modify the HTML structure of those pages. You can run custom JavaScript, interact with the DOM, set cookies, click on links or buttons, or even send emails from your calendly page by using Web Actions. Since they all run on the same domain as your calendly page, you don’t need to worry about cross origin issues. (Web Actions Basics)
