Firebase Realtime Database is a cloud database that gives you realtime data for your web and mobile apps. With just a few lines of code, you can get powerful features:
Security and data validation
Easily scale with realtime listeners, which automatically update the UI when the data changes
Store and sync data for your web app in JSON format
Process millions of transactions with near-realtime speed
In addition to the above features, Square uses Firebase Realtime Database for its payment processing services. It uses data from Firebase Realtime Database to perform transactions such as refunds, partial refunds, cancelations, and voids.
Square is a payments company that provides a service to accept payments using a phone. Square provides Card Readers that can be plugged into smartphones and tablets to make point-of-sale (POS. transactions. Square offers several payment plans for businesses for their customers such as a POS system service. Currently, Square has over 1 million merchants using their services.
The integration of these two technpogies allows Square users to sign up for accounts on squareup.com by signing up with their Gmail or Google Apps account. This gives them access to payments through the Square website or on the Square mobile app. In order to do this, Square uses Firebase database to store information about the customer that signs up with Google. Then, when that customer wants to use Square’s service for payments on a mobile device, Square can pull out the information stored in Firebase database by using the Google API Key and Customer ID that was stored after signup. This information can be used to create an account for the customer on Square’s site or on the Square mobile app. The customer’s information will be pulled out of Firebase database when that customer makes a purchase on those devices. Here are some pictures that show what happens during a purchase:
Integrating Firebase Realtime Database with Square allows Square to create a better user experience for customers that want to start accepting payments using a smartphone or other mobile device. This integration also allows Square to use existing technpogy in order to create a better user experience for their customers by creating easy setup and use scenarios for customers that want to start accepting payments using a mobile device.
