Integration of Firebase Realtime Database and Bitly

Firebase Realtime Database

Firebase Realtime database is a database that enables developers to build apps that store data in realtime. It is also flexible, scalable and can be used with any web app. The database is well-suited for mobile apps because it can be accessed through JavaScript objects. It supports multiple languages including Java, Node.js, Objective-C and many others.

Firebase Realtime Database can be integrated with other services like Google Maps, Slack, Google Adwords, Parse and more. It is accessed through an API which makes it easy to use.

Bitly

Bitly is a URL shortening service that makes URLs shorter by using bit.ly subdomains. It also has other features that allows users to track clicks, access analytics, create custom reports and more. It is owned by AOL and can be used free of charge.

Integration of Firebase Realtime Database and Bitly

Given below are the steps needed to integrate Firebase Realtime Database and Bitly:

Step 1. Create Bitly Account

Go to the website bitly.com to create an account. You can click here to register. Once you have registered, you will need to create a new application key. To do this, click on the “New Application Key” button on the dashboard, give an application name and then click “Create Key”. Once you have created the application key, go to the dashboard and click on “Apps” to select the application key you want to use for this integration. Then click on the “View Details” button to get the app key value. This will be used later in the integration process.

Step 2. Set up Firebase Realtime Database

To set up Firebase Realtime Database, go to your Firebase conspe and click on “Add project”. Then enter the name for your project and click “Create project”. After you have done that, you will be taken to your project dashboard where you will need to enable Firebase Realtime Database feature. Go to the “Features” tab and click on the “Realtime Database” button and then click on “Enable”. Go back to your project dashboard and copy down your “Project ID” as we will need it later in the integration process. Also make sure you keep track of your project’s “Database URL” as this will be needed later as well. We will also need your Firebase_Project_ID and Firebase_Database_URL values later in the integration process as well.

Step 3. Create a new Bitly Application Key

To create a new Bitly application key, go to the bitly website and click on “My Apps” and then click on the “Applications” tab and then click on “Create New Application”. Enter the name for your application and provide a description for it as well. In the Application Settings tab, choose your preferred language from the dropdown menu and then check the box next to “Allow public access” so that users can shorten URLs from their website or app without having to request access keys from you first. Select a type of Token from the dropdown menu – either a Short URL token or a Long URL Token – depending on how you plan on using this integration. When you have finished entering the settings for your application, click on “Create App” to finish creating your new application key. Once you have created your new application key, you will need to get its app key value as we will need it later in this integration process as well.

Step 4. Create a new channel in Firebase Realtime Database

In order to connect Firebase Realtime Database with Bitly, we will first need to create a new channel in Firebase Realtime Database. A channel is basically a connection between two different services that allow them to communicate with one another. To create a channel for this integration, go back to your project dashboard and click on the “Channels” tab under the “Database” section. Click on the “Add channel” button and give it a name, such as Bitly Channel for example, and then click on the “Save” button to save your channel creation. This channel name can be anything you want but should be something easy to remember so that it is easier for you to identify while making changes in the future. Once you have saved this channel creation, you will need to set up an authentication key for this channel so that your information can be kept private when sending information back and forth between Firebase Realtime Database and Bitly through this channel connection. Click on the “Authentication Keys” tab under the “Channel Attributes” section of your channel creation page and then click on the “Generate Keys” button next to Authentication Key Name cpumn of your newly created channel. This will generate a random authentication key value for this channel. Copy down this value as we will need it later in the integration process as well. Now that we have created a new channel in Firebase Realtime Database, we can start integrating it with Bitly by performing step 5 of this integration process now.

Step 5. Create a new “Bitly Client ID Obtained from Bitly Admin Page” in Firebase Realtime Database Channel Settings Tab

Note. If you don’t see the Channel Settings tab in your channel creation page, then go back to your project dashboard and click on your newly created channel under the “Channels” tab again and then refresh this page once more. If you still don’t see it then try restarting your browser or logging out and logging back into your Firebase conspe again before refreshing the page again. This may take some time so please be patient while waiting for your Channel Settings tab to appear after you refresh your page after creating a new channel in Firebase Realtime Database. If you still don’t see it after refreshing your page several times then try logging out of your Firebase conspe completely and then logging back in again before refreshing the page again as well (note. fplow this step very carefully. If all else fails, try fplowing these steps below. Click on your project ID under the “Projects” tab Click on “Settings” Click on “Accounts & Imports” Click on “Linked Accounts” Click on “Manage ALL Linked Accounts” Click on “Google Account (required. Under Managed Accounts. Click on Google Account Under Credentials -> APIs & auth -> Credentials -> Keys -> Generate Key -> Electronically sign requests Check Electronically sign requests Click Save Changes Go back to Step 1 of this integration process above after performing these steps above
