I. Introduction:In this article, we are going to talk about the integration of Office 365 and Zoho People. We will also see the benefits of these two applications when used together.
Office 365 is the cloud-based version of Microsoft Office software suite that users can access from anywhere using a web browser or mobile device. Office 365 has become one of the most popular productivity suites on the market today. It contains all the familiar Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and OneDrive for Business. The difference between Office 365 and its predecessor is that it can be accessed online through an Internet connection, rather than as a software suite installed on a local computer.Office 365 has been developed to make cplaboration easier and faster for anyone who uses it. They can access their up-to-date employee data anytime from anywhere through their mobile phones or tablets. Both these applications support integration with each other through APIs that can be used to create custom applications based on these interfaces. There are different types of APIs available for each application. Let us discuss some of them here:
5. Activity Feed API – This API helps you fetch activities related to a particular resource (user/group/organization. from activity feed in Office 365 . You can then display those activities on the web page associated with that particular resource in Zoho People . For example, if you have created an organizational chart for your company, then you could fetch activities related to particular user/group/organization from activity feed and display them on that organizational chart web page. This way you will get a real-time view of what activities are happening around the resource for which you are displaying activities on the organizational chart web page.This API only fetches data from activity feed and does not post any data to activity feed or modify any existing data in activity feed . So you don't need any additional permission or authentication beyond what is required for Office 365 .6. Attachment API – This API helps you upload attachments to shared mailboxes (defined in Exchange Online . using Zoho People . You can upload attachments through this API . This API supports both REST and SOAP protocps . REST is recommended because it is simpler and faster than SOAP .7. Delve API – Delve is an internal search engine in Office 365 which organizes information from mail/calendar/people etc into cards which can be viewed through self-service portals like Sharepoint or Yammer . It gives you insights into what people inside your organization are working on across different teams and projects which help you understand how everything fits together across your organization and plan accordingly. With Delve API , you can perform queries against Delve index directly from external applications so that you can surface important information without having to login into portal every time to search for information . You can use this API to search for information which will again appear as cards in Zoho People so that users can read it on their devices without having to open any portal like Sharepoint or Yammer . For example, if you want to show information on your organizational chart web page (which we discussed earlier), then you could search for "Activity" keyword from Delve index which will return cards containing activities related to particular user/group/organization from activity feed and display those cards on organizational chart web page so that users can see what activities are happening around them without having to open activity feed web page in browser . This way users will get real-time view of activities happening around them without having to open activity feed web page.This API only performs queries against Delve index and does not post any data to Delve index or modify any existing data in Delve index . So you don't need any additional permission or authentication beyond what is required for Office 365 .8. Power BI API – Power BI is a cloud analytics service by Microsoft which helps users visualize their data in different ways using interactive dashboards, scorecards etc. Through Power BI API , you can access data stored on Microsoft Power BI service so that you can create interactive dashboards using data from it which can be viewed by end users of Zoho People without having to open Power BI web page in browser . For example, if you have data about sales performance of your company stored in Power BI service , then you could create interactive dashboards based on that data which will appear on organizational chart web page so that users get real-time views of sales performance without having to open Power BI web page in browser . This way users will get real-time views of sales performance without having to open Power BI web page in browser and they do not even need to log into Power BI service to see sales performance dashboards as they will already be logged into Zoho People while viewing organizational chart web page which has dashboards embedded into it as part of its content. This way they don't have to login into multiple services again and again just to see their own sales performance dashboard and they don't have to waste their time switching between multiple services while trying to find out what others are doing around them or
