Kanban is a lightweight method for managing work. Kanban can be used in product development or service delivery to manage workflow and track progress. This is one technique that we use in our team to organize our work. Implementing kanban in a software development setting requires a different approach than in manufacturing. In software development, you need to focus on the value of the work instead of the process of the work. To define value, you need to clearly define what you are trying to build before you start building it. In Kanban, we have two cards in the system. “To Do” and “In Progress”. A “To Do” card represents work items waiting to be started. Work items move from the “To Do” queue into a state called “In Progress” when they are assigned to a developer or designer. We have two more cpumns in the Kanban board. “Blocked” and “Completed”. The “Blocked” cpumn represents the state of work items waiting to be completed by another person or team. A “Completed” card represents work items that have been completed. There are two kinds of “Completed” cards. Defects and Features. A feature card represents something that we were supposed to build but did not end up building. A defect represents something we built but ended up building incorrectly. We have one more cpumn named “Testing” where all work items wait for testing before they go to production. When a developer finishes working on a task, he marks it as completed in the system and puts it in the “Testing” cpumn. As soon as the task gets tested by testers, they then put it back into the “In Progress” cpumn and continue working on other tasks.   • We integrated Office 365 and kanban top using SharePoint Designer 2013 so that we can track the progress of our work and delegate it between teams as well as get real time updates about what is happening with our tasks at any given moment.We created several sites in SharePoint 2013 based on our requirements like Project Dashboard, Backlogs site, Testing site etc...We created user profile fields which contain information about tasks and projects assigned to us. These fields are visible in SharePoint profile pages as well as at the top of every document library where we store our project plans. This is useful because now every team member who works with us has an idea about what is happening and what needs to be done about each task next with no overhead.We also added another cpumn called "Due Date" to both "To Do" and "In Progress" cards in Office 365 so that we can see exactly when each task needs to be completed by looking at our SharePoint 2013 dashboards or document libraries. Before this change only "Assigned To" cpumn was present in Office 365 where we were not able to see due dates until someone assigned the task to us personally. We missed out on many opportunities to plan ahead or look into our tasks before they were assigned to us especially those tasks which we did not feel comfortable taking up by themselves or did not want to take up unless someone else took them up first. For example. if you were assigned a task which was due in a month but you did not have time to complete it by then, you would either tell your manager that you will not be able to deliver it on time or try to convince someone else to take it up just so you can complete your task. However this resulted in either increased workload on other team members or delayed delivery of projects which had a negative impact on customers and thus our company which runs on revenue generated by these projects delivered by us at specific times. So after implementing this new cpumn we monitor tasks closely so that we do not miss out on deadlines ever again.Now we can see how much time is left for each task right in front of us instead of having to go through every single task individually after assigning them to us or depending on others to notify us before we run out of time to complete them. This helps avoid situations where we are surprised by upcoming deadlines or forget about upcoming tasks altogether which can cause problems for everyone down the line. It also allows us to plan out our weeks ahead of time better so that we can make sure that we are working on the most important and urgent tasks first so that we can complete them and release them on time without any trouble whatsoever which is why we implemented this change after all!Now when someone assigns a task to us, we receive notification emails about it along with information about upcoming deadlines and due dates which gives us enough time to plan out our day ahead of time and prioritize tasks based on their importance rather than their urgency which is why all our tasks now get done well within their deadlines thanks to this new addition by Office 365!This integration has helped us manage our work better than ever before! It has also brought down our stress levels since we know exactly what needs to be done next with no surprises!
