Integration of Odoo CRM and Office 365

In this paper we will discuss the integration of Odoo CRM and Office 365. We will start by defining what Office 365 is and then we will define what Odoo CRM is. Then we will talk about the integration and finally we will provide our opinion on the integration.

What is Odoo CRM?

Odoo CRM stands for Odoo Customer Relationship Management. It is a legal and accounting software that lets you manage your customers and their information easily from one place. This software has a range of modules like Sales, Purchases, Projects, Quotations, Invoices, Expenses, Credit Contrp, Distribution, Marketing, Purchasing, Warehouse, Manufacturing etc. The best part about this software is that it is flexible and can be customized according to your business needs.

What is Office 365?

Office 365 is a cloud based platform which has applications like OneDrive, Office 365 Business, Project Online, Skype for Business and Exchange Server. Office 365 Business includes all the features that are available in Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013. It also includes five licenses for cloud services like SharePoint Online, Exchange Online and Lync Online.

In order to integrate Office 365 with Odoo CRM we need to look into the many ways in which these two can be integrated. Let’s start with Office 365. The various features of Microsoft Office 365 can be integrated with Odoo CRM using different methods.

  • Web browser-based tops- We can easily integrate web browser-based tops such as Skype for Business and SharePoint with Odoo CRM using web services included in Odoo CRM. For example, we can integrate Skype for Business with Odoo CRM using web services to share files and messages.
  • Outlook- This can be integrated with Odoo CRM via Outlook Add-in. This Add-in gives us the option to create new appointments in Outlook from within Odoo CRM. It also allows us to access existing appointments straight from Outlook without having to open Odoo CRM.
  • Active Directory Integration- This can be done by integrating Active Directory with Odoo CRM. This allows us to use the company’s Active Directory user account details to log into Odoo CRM and perform all of the functions in it like creating a customer or an invoice etc.
  • File Manager- Files can be integrated with Odoo CRM through the file manager module. This module allows us to upload files directly from Odoo CRM to the cloud storage service of our choice such as SharePoint or DropBox.
  • Microsoft Excel- This application can be integrated with Odoo CRM using the Microsoft Excel Connector which is available for free download on the Odoo website . Using this connector data can be imported in Excel from Odoo CRM or exported from Excel into Odoo CRM as well as other formats such as CSV, XML or TXT.
  • Microsoft Dynamics CRM- In case of an enterprise scenario where the company uses Microsoft Dynamics CRM then they can integrate it with Odoo CRM by using the Master Data Services (MDS. This MDS allows them to sync data between the two platforms so that there is no duplication of records between them.
  • Salesforce- Being a sales oriented software Salesforce can be integrated with Odoo CRM using a Salesforce adapter which is available for free download on the Odoo website . Using this adapter it is possible to import data from Salesforce into Odoo CRM and vice versa without any problem at all.
  • Social Media- Social media accounts like Facebook and Twitter can be connected with Odoo CRM using social connectors which are available for free download on the Odoo website . Using these connectors it is possible to post updates on any of our social media accounts straight from within Odoo CRM itself without having to switch windows or leaving the application at all. These connectors also allow us to track our social media statistics such as views, mentions etc.
  • WhatsApp- In order to integrate WhatsApp with Odoo CRM we would need the WhatsApp connector which is available for free download on the Odoo website . Using this connector we can create events, tasks and contacts right from our mobile phone by sending WhatsApp messages to these numbers or through a PC connected to our phone via Bluetooth or WiFi. Also when we send a message from one number through WhatsApp it will appear as another number in the contact list of recipient so that it appears like someone else has sent it rather than us being behind it all along.
  • Xero- Xero is a cloud based accounting application that can be integrated with Odoo CRM using an Xero connector which is available for free download on the Odoo website . Using this connector it is possible to import financial information from Xero into Odoo CRM and vice versa without any problem at all in terms of data duplication at all or any lag in data transfer whatsoever. This connector also serves as a bridge between Xero and its API so even if there are no connectors available for specific actions it can still be done using its API only instead of using the connectors directly.
  • Zapier- Zapier is a web based integration top that allows us to connect multiple applications together in order to automate repetitive tasks like sending alerts whenever a new lead submits his/her details on our website or send alerts whenever a new member signs up on our website etc. This top can also be used to integrate B2B social networking top LinkedIn with Odoo CRM by using Zapier’s LinkedIn app .
