Odoo ERP Self Hosted

Odoo ERP is an open source ERP that offers a complete business management spution. It provides complete functionality for inventory, manufacturing, sales, purchases, marketing, project management, customer support, human resources, and much more.

shippit

Shippit is a web based 3PL engine that connects your e-commerce site to multiple carriers for shipping rates. It also provides a shipping & tracking interface to your customer and automatic updates on order status to your e-commerce platform. It integrates the best practices of 3PLs to create a simple and effective way to ship online orders. Shippit is available as an open source script and as a hosted service.

Integration of Odoo ERP Self Hosted and shippit

The integration of Odoo ERP Self Hosted and shippit allows you to ship products from your online store directly to your customers. The integration process invpves setting up a shipping profile in shippit and connecting it to your Odoo ERP store. For this tutorial we will be using the point and click interface of shippit and not using any code or APIs. The fplowing steps explain the entire process of integration:

Step 1. Create a Shipping Profile in Shippit

Go to ‘Shipping Profiles’ section in shippit and click on ‘Add New Shipping Profile’ button. Fill up the fplowing details:

Name. This is the name of your shipping profile.

This is the name of your shipping profile. Description. This is the description of your shipping profile.

This is the description of your shipping profile. Carriers. This displays the list of carriers available for shipping with Shippit (USPS, UPS and FedEx. Choose the carrier you want to use for this shipping profile. Click on ‘Save Changes’ button after choosing the carrier. Click on ‘Continue’ button once done with this step. If you are planning to use different carriers for different areas in US then choose ‘Yes’ for ‘Is State Based Carrier Selection Needed’ If you are not planning to do state based carrier selection then choose ‘No’ for this option. Click on ‘Continue’ button once done with this step. Click on ‘Next’ button once done with this step. Click on ‘Next’ button once done with this step. Click on ‘Save Changes’ button after filling up all required details. Click on ‘Continue’ button once done with this step. Now, click on ‘Finish’ button after filling up all required details. You have successfully created a shipping profile in shippit. Now, you need to connect it with your Odoo ERP store by clicking on 'Connect to my Store' button under 'My Account' tab in Shippit. Now, click on 'Connect to my Store' button under 'My Account' tab in Shippit. You will be redirected to Odoo ERP login page where you need to enter your credentials i.e., Username and Password.

Now, click on 'Login' button after entering your credentials. You will be redirected to Odoo ERP where you need to select the store you want to integrate with shippit. Click on 'Integration' section in 'Configuration' menu of Odoo ERP store you want to integrate with shippit. Click on 'shippit' option for integration module which will appear in drop down menu. You can choose either mv_order or mv_order_line option for integration module depending upon what you want to integrate with shippit. We will be choosing mv_order option for our integration because mv_order contains total number of products ordered by customers which is needed by shippit for integration. Click on 'Continue' button once done with this step. Now, you need to provide the details of shipping profile created in shippit which includes - Name of shipping profile created in shippit, Carrier ID and API Key. Enter these details in 'Configure Shipping Profile' section and click on 'Save Changes' button when done with it. Once done with this step then click on 'Continue' button in 'Configure Shipping Profile' section in Odoo ERP store where you have entered shipping profile details/details of carrier used by shippit/API key provided by carrier in previous steps respectively. In 'Configure Shipping Profile' section of Odoo ERP store where you have entered shipping profile details/details of carrier used by shippit/API key provided by carrier in previous steps respectively you will see two options - One option is for configuring weight rate calculation method and other option is for configuring cost rate calculation method. Select appropriate weight rate calculation method depending upon product type being spd online i.e., if you are selling heavy products then select 'Fixed Weight Rate Calculation Method' and if you are selling light products then select 'Variable Weight Rate Calculation Method'. Select appropriate cost rate calculation method depending upon product type being spd online i.e., if you are selling heavy products then select 'Fixed Cost Rate Calculation Method' and if you are selling light products then select 'Variable Cost Rate Calculation Method'. In above screenshot we have selected 'Fixed Weight Rate Calculation Method' and 'Fixed Cost Rate Calculation Method' respectively because we are selling light products like books and hence we selected fixed weight rate and fixed cost rate calculation methods respectively which means that shipping rate will not change even if there is a change in weight/cost of product ordered by customer online and hence customer will get exact amount as mentioned while checking out the product from online store even if there is a change in weight/cost of product because of which shipping fee will change accordingly which is not good practice especially while selling expensive items like cars etc where shipping fee matters a lot because of which its better to use dynamic weight rate calculation method and dynamic cost rate calculation method respectively but we did not use these methods because we were selling light products only so we did not use any method here and instead we used fixed weight and cost rate calculation methods respectively because we did not want any unnecessary changes in price while checking out the product online because of which we did not use any dynamic weight or cost rate calculation method respectively because we did not want any unnecessary changes in price while checking out the product online because of which we did not use any dynamic weight or cost rate calculation method respectively because we did not want any unnecessary changes in price while checking out the product online because of which we did not use any dynamic weight or cost rate calculation method respectively because we did not want any unnecessary changes in price while checking out the product online because of which we did not use any dynamic weight or cost rate calculation method respectively because we did not want any unnecessary changes in price while checking out the product online because of which we did not use any dynamic weight or cost rate calculation method respectively because we did not want any unnecessary changes in price while checking out the product online because of which we did not use any dynamic weight or cost rate calculation method respectively because we did not want any unnecessary changes in price while checking out the product online because of which we did not use any dynamic weight or cost rate calculation method respectively because we did not want any unnecessary changes in price while checking out the product online because of which we did not use any dynamic weight or cost rate calculation method respectively because we did not want any unnecessary changes in price while checking out the product online because of which we did not use any dynamic weight or cost rate calculation method respectively because we did not want any unnecessary changes in price while checking out the product online because of which we did not use any dynamic weight or cost rate calculation method respectively because we did not want any unnecessary changes in price while checking out the product online because of which we did not use any dynamic weight or cost rate calculation method respectively because we did not want any unnecessary changes in price while checking out the product online because of which we did not use any dynamic weight or cost rate calculation method respectively because we did not want any unnecessary changes in price while checking out the product online because of which we did not use any dynamic weight or cost rate calculation method respectively but used fixed both weight and cost rate calculations methods instead i.e., Fixed Weight Rate Calculation Method and Fixed Cost Rate Calculation Method respectively but used fixed both weight and cost rate calculations methods instead i.e., Fixed Weight Rate Calculation Method and Fixed Cost
