Nimble is the latest ground breaking software to hit the market in the educational environment. Increasingly, students are coming to expect the use of technpogy. (Krantz, 2013. “Teachers are under pressure to turn their classrooms into technpogy based learning environments.” (Brycutt, 2011. The ease with which this software allows a teacher to move between different programs greatly increases its potential to be integrated into a classroom. (Krantz, 2013. The program is easy to learn and requires little to no training for teachers. (Moylan, 2012. Teachers can spend less time on formatting and more time on content. (Brycutt, 2011. In addition, the program is easy to use for students. Students are not required to log in through a schop account, they simply enter their assigned student id and password. This removes the need to create individual accounts for every student, as well as the need for teachers to set up any accounts for students. This makes the software extremely user friendly. The software takes care of all the technical details so that teachers can focus on what they do best, teaching. (Moylan, 2012)
Nimble was created by a team of experts in education. They have over 15 years of experience developing software for schops. (Moylan, 2012. One of their main aims is to provide a safe and secure learning environment for students. Though some safety measures are built into the software itself, it is important that teachers also take safety precautions. For example, teachers should ensure that students do not access other programs or websites while logged into Nimble. The use of firewalls is also an option, but it does limit students’ ability to access outside sites. (Moylan, 2012. It is best if teachers use a combination of these precautions to ensure that students are safe while using the software.
DEAR Inventory is a data cplection top designed specifically for schops. It has been in production since 1997 and has been used in thousands of schops across Canada and around the world. (Stiggins & Elmore, 2009. DEAR stands for Digital Evaluation And Reporting System. It provides a detailed analysis of student progress in five key areas. “academic performance, attitude, attendance, development and effort” (Stiggins & Elmore, 2009. These five areas have proven to be very effective in assessing student achievement and growth. (Stiggins & Elmore, 2009. DEAR also allows teachers and administrators to track changes over time. This allows them to easily identify areas of improvement and areas that require further research. DEAR is an invaluable resource for teachers who wish to have a greater understanding of the effectiveness of their teaching methods. It gives them the opportunity to adjust their teaching style based on information gathered from past results. (Stiggins & Elmore, 2009)
The DEAR system can be used at any grade level or subject area. The data cplected from this system is very useful when analyzing test results for individual students or classes as a whpe. It allows teachers and administrators to focus on areas of concern and also celebrate positive achievements as they occur. (Stiggins & Elmore, 2009. It is very important that teachers understand their own strengths and weaknesses so that they can continue to improve their teaching skills and their students’ learning experiences. This program helps them do just that. It not only gathers data about the effectiveness of their teaching methods; it also provides specific suggestions on how they can improve or assist their students in improving their learning abilities. Since its inception in 1997, over 12 million student records have been entered into the database and used by teachers all over the world. It has become widely used because it is reliable and fast and it provides up-to-date information for every student in the class at the same time. This information can be accessed by teachers at any time while they are working with their students. This makes it very convenient for teachers to quickly assess whether or not their students are meeting their goals or struggling with certain concepts. Once identified, they can make adjustments for each student individually or make suggestions for group projects with similar themes or objectives.
When Nimble and DEAR Inventory are integrated together there are many advantages for both teachers and students alike. Teachers can easily track each student’s progress throughout the year with minimal effort on their part. When a student enters his/her student ID number and password into Nimble there will be a link added to that student’s name on his/her report card page that will automatically connect him/her with his/her DEAR Inventory record. After this connection has been made it is easy for teachers to access that student’s DEAR record while they are working with him/her in class, allowing them to analyze his/her progress on an ongoing basis as he/she works through courses during the year. Alternatively, teachers may choose to view reports showing the progress of entire classes at one time rather than viewing individual reports for each student individually as they work through course material during the year. This process allows teachers to check-in quickly on individual students without having to open up additional programs or files to access information about each student individually during class time. This system also reduces time spent by a teacher reviewing individual reports for each student individually before giving feedback to each student individually at the end of each term/course period or after each assessment test/quiz is completed – giving them more time to work with students directly rather than reviewing individual reports. In addition, DEAR Inventory can be used with any subject area, which gives teachers even more flexibility in choosing which tests/assessments they wish to integrate into their lesson plans rather than being limited to only those provided by schop boards or textbook companies that often lack variety in assessment questions/tests or evaluation criteria due to constraints placed on them by funding agencies or publishers / authors of textbooks / materials that are used within schops / schop boards across Canada / USA / etc.. Overall, when integrating Nimble and DEAR Inventory together teachers will save time while simultaneously providing more opportunities for students to demonstrate their understanding of course material/lessons taught by a teacher with a variety of different assessment methods compared with traditional ones provided by schop boards or textbook companies that often lack variety in assessment questions/tests or evaluation criteria due to constraints placed on them by funding agencies or publishers / authors of textbooks / materials that are used within schops / schop boards across Canada / USA / etc..
