Netlify is a hosting platform for static websites. It provides various features to assist users in building and managing their website.
Firebase Realtime Database is a cloud database that allows developers to store data in a real-time manner, which can be accessed at any time from anywhere.
In this section, I will explain how the integration of Netlify and Firebase Realtime Database works. After creating an account on Netlify and a project on Firebase, it is necessary to install the Firebase SDK (https://firebase.google.com/docs/web/setup. in order to configure the integration between them. The steps invpved are as fplows:
After installing the SDK, there will be a setting on the Firebase conspe that allows you to integrate with Netlify. Clicking on “Enable Web Hosting” will lead you to a page with a button called “Add a New Site”. As soon as you click on this button, you will be redirected to a page similar to the fplowing:
The next step invpves adding your domain name to your project by clicking on “Add Your Domain Name”; however, if you have chosen a custom domain for your website, you can add it here as well. After this step, you need to give Netlify your site’s build command, which means the command that you use to build your application.
After adding your installation command, clicking “Save” will redirect you to a page where you can see all of your settings. Clicking on “Save” again will enable your website in the Firebase conspe and will allow you to see your live application.
Your final step is to test whether your application is working correctly. If your application is working correctly, then every time you change something in your code, the changes will take place automatically. In case something goes wrong, you will receive an email notification with details about the error.
The benefits of this integration include:
Immediate deployment. After integrating Netlify with Firebase, every time you make any changes on your code, they will be immediately deployed to the server without requiring manual intervention. This way you don’t have to worry about making mistakes while deploying your code; otherwise you might end up breaking your website by mistake and also spend unnecessary time troubleshooting the issue. Thereby, saving time and money.
Built-in security. Since both Firebase and Netlify are Google products, they provide built-in security for your website content. Using Google’s machine learning algorithms, it monitors for any suspicious activity on your site and alerts you about it.
Cloud database. With Firebase Realtime Database, you don’t need to worry about anything related to maintaining a database because everything is taken care of by Firebase.
