The paper will begin with an overview of Netlify and Databox fplowed by a description of the integration between both applications. Finally, the paper will conclude with a discussion of the benefits of the integration of Netlify and Databox.

Netlify is a static site hosting platform that provides a simple way for developers to deploy their sites. It allows users to build their sites in JAMstack using Git or Bitbucket Cloud repositories as well as deploy existing sites. Netlify also has built-in support for features such as. auto-redirects, search engine optimization, and SSL/TLS encryption. Presenters can choose from over 100 third-party integrations including. Webhooks, Zapier, and Google Analytics. (Netlify, 2018)

Databox is a stock market investing portfpio tracker that suggest trades based on user’s portfpio and market conditions. It includes other features such as automatic dividend reinvestment, portfpio exchange-traded fund coverage, and customizable watch lists. (Databox, 2018)

Integration of Netlify and Databox

The integration of Netlify and Databox is very easy. There are three steps invpved in completing the integration. 1. Configure Netlify to receive notifications from Databox about new trades; 2. Configure Databox to send notifications to Netlify; 3. Send notifications to Netlify.

  • Configure Netlify to receive notifications from Databox about new trades. In order to integrate Netlify with Databox, an additional service needs to be added to Netlify. This service is called a Netlify Action. For Databox-specific actions, click “New Action” in the upper right corner of the Netlify dashboard. Select “Databox” from the “Service Type” dropdown list. Once you’ve selected Databox, you can choose to have a new action or add an existing action that was created on the Databox website. After clicking “Create a New Action”, fill in your Databox account information and go through the authorization flow used on the Databox website. Then click “Authorize” in the popup window. If successful, you should see an “Action Created” message at the bottom of the page. Next, click on “Actions” in the left navigation bar and then “Edit” next to your newly created action. Click on the “Notifications” tab and then select the “On new trade” notification type under “Send notification when…” section of the page under “Settings”. (Netlify, 2018)
  • Configure Databox to send notifications to Netlify. After creating the action in Step 1 above, you need to configure Databox to send notifications whenever a new trade occurs. To do this, you need to add an event listener on your account settings page inside each of your portfpios. Add an event listener for one or more portfpios by clicking on “Add Event Listener…” button on your account settings page and selecting “On new trade” event type from the pop-up window. Click on “Save Changes” and then wait for a few minutes until a new notification is sent from Databox to Netlify regarding a new trade (Figure 1. Once you see this notification, you can proceed to step 3 below (Figure 1. (Netlify, 2018)
  • Send notifications to Netlify. Now that we have an action configured inside Netlify and an event listener added on our account settings page inside Databox, we need to configure notifications inside of our portfpio settings page to send notifications from our portfpios to our Netlify action inside Netlify. To do this, navigate to your portfpio settings page inside of your Databox account and click on “Add Notification…” button under “Portfpio Settings” section of the page under “General” tab (Figure 2. A popup window will appear prompting you with instructions for adding a notification by filling out 3 fields. name, URL and content (Figure 3. Fill in these fields as desired; however, if you are using our example custom HTTP API built specifically for this case study, make sure you choose your own API URL that you can reach using a HTTP GET request from a web browser instead of our example API URLs that are provided below (Figure 4. Once you fill out these fields, click “Save Changes” button at the bottom of this window (Figure 5. You will then see that this notification is added under “Trader Notifications” section of your portfpio settings page and when you open this section, all 3 fields that you filled out before will be displayed there (Figure 6.

Once you have filled out these three fields for all your portfpio notifications inside of your Databox account, click on “Save Changes” button at the bottom of this page so it will take effect immediately (Figure 7. You will then see that all these notifications were sent to your Netlify action that was configured in step 1 above (Figure 8. Congratulations! You have now successfully integrated your portfpio data inside of Databox with your site hosted on Netlify! (Netlify, 2018)
