Integration of MySQL and Zoho Connect

MySQL?

MySQL is an open source, relational database management system (RDBMS. that runs on Linux, Unix, and Windows. It is a multi-user, multi-threaded server that supports multiple databases and is licensed under the GPLv2 license. MySQL is designed to be fast, running on a variety of hardware from small embedded devices and consumer systems to fast dedicated servers and large enterprise databases.

Zoho Connect?

Zoho Connect is a mobile app that allows users to view their Zoho CRM data on mobile devices. Users can create accounts, view contacts, create leads, create opportunities, add notes, add appointments, add tasks, take photos, view reports, etc. in real time. With Zoho Connect mobile app for your smartphone or tablet, you can view any CRM record straight off your Android phone or tablet.

Integration of MySQL and Zoho Connect

Zoho Connect brings together all your Zoho CRM data from various sources and displays them on mobile devices through the native mobile app. The integration of MySQL and Zoho Connect is quite easy and can be done in a few steps:

Step 1. You have to sign up with both MySQL and Zoho Connect. To sign up with MySQL, visit http://www.mysql.com/downloads/mysql/ and download the appropriate MySQL version for your operating system. To sign up with Zoho Connect, visit http://www.zoho.com/crm/mobile/ and create an account.

Step 2. After signing up with MySQL and Zoho Connect, you need to set up the integration between these two products by fplowing the steps below:

Step 2.1. Install both MySQL and the connector application on your computer. The connector application can be downloaded by visiting http://api.zoho.com/documentation/connector/latest/index.html.

Step 2.2. Go to https://connectors.zoho.com/mysql_connector/ and click the Open this connector link in the middle of the page. This will open a new window where you have to enter your connector ID and password in order to configure the connection between MySQL and Zoho Connect:

Step 2.3. Once logged in to your account, click the New Connection button on the right-hand side of the page:

Step 2.4. On the New Connection page, enter a Connection Name such as MySQLLink and click the Next button:

Step 2.5. On the next page, select your MySQL Server Type as MySQL 5+. For Host Name enter localhost or 127.0.0.1 (as shown below), Port as 3306, Username as root and Password as root (Note that you will have to replace ‘root’ with your actual password. Click the Next button after entering all the required fields:

Step 2.6. On the next page, select the tables you want to be integrated with Zoho CRM by checking their checkboxes. For example, we are integrating the ‘contacts’ table from our ‘localhost’ MySQL database with Zoho CRM (as shown below):

Once you are done selecting the desired tables, click the Next button:

Step 2.7. On the next page, choose what kind of fields you want to be displayed in Zoho CRM mobile app (as shown below):

After choosing your desired fields (we have chosen Name, Email, Phone Number and Address), click the Next button:

Step 2.8. On the next page, fill in your details such as First name and Last name (as shown below):

Click the Next button once you have entered all these details:

Step 2.9. On the final page of the setup wizard, click the Done button to complete the integration process between MySQL and Zoho CRM:

Now your MySQL database is integrated with Zoho CRM mobile app so that all your CRM records from your database are available on mobile devices through Zoho CRM mobile app for Android phones and tablets (you will have to install Zoho CRM mobile app for Android on your phone first. If you want to integrate other tables from your database with Zoho CRM mobile app for Android devices then simply fplow Step 2 again (steps 2.1 – 2.9. You can test your integration by opening any contact record from your database (for example, use the contact ID 258204 from contacts table. on Zoho CRM mobile app for Android devices (you will have to open this record on a desktop computer first. Now whenever you open any contact record from this contact ID in Zoho CRM mobile app for Android devices then you will see all the fields from contact table automatically appear in your mobile device (as shown below):

You can also update any records in this database by simply clicking on any field in mobile app and then updating it (as shown below):
