This tip sheet is designed to get you started using Gmail!

To search for emails in Gmail, you can enter keywords into the search box at the top of the window. You can also click the search button on the right side of the search box to display a drop-down list of additional search options, including “from:”, “to:,” and “subject:” fields, which allow you to narrow your search results even further by sender or recipient or by specific subject matter.

To send an email message while viewing a message in your inbox, select the Compose button located at the bottom of the window.

If someone replies to an email message that you sent them, they will have added “Re:” or “Re. [email address]” to the subject line of the reply they send back to you. This allows you to easily distinguish between messages that you send out and messages that are being sent back to you in response to something you have already written.

When replying to an email message in Gmail, there are two ways that you can do so. You can either use reply-all to send a reply back to all recipients listed in the original message or reply directly to the author of the original message by selecting reply from the drop-down menu at the top right-hand corner of the page.

You can add email addresses into your contacts list in Gmail by combining their name and email address into one entry. To do this, simply type ‘@’ fplowed by the first letter of their name and then enter their email address and hit return. This will automatically add both their name and their email address into your contact list. For example, typing in ‘@a@example.com’ will create an entry in your contact list called ‘Aaron Parecki’ with his email address listed beside it. The first letter after ‘@’ does not have to match up with their actual first name; instead, just choose whichever letter you feel most comfortable associating with their name.

To send out bulk emails via Gmail, use Canned Responses, which are prewritten emails that can be used as templates for sending out similar messages over and over again. To locate this feature within Gmail, click on Settings > General > Canned Responses > Create new canned response > Compose email message > Save draft > Edit message > Select desired canned response > Click send button.

In Gmail, when replying to a message containing multiple recipients (i.e., one recipient being a group of people), you can include all individual recipients within the main body text by hitting return after each name but before typing anything else into your reply. Alternatively, click Reply All on the drop-down menu located next to Reply (you must click Reply All even if you only want to respond directly to some of the recipients. This will automatically include all names from the original message into your reply but will also include their email addresses so that you can create a new personal message going directly back to each recipient individually without having to go through any extra steps. This feature is very useful for replying directly to groups of people without accidentally leaving anyone out!

When sending an email message from Gmail, always include a descriptive subject line so that the recipient knows what they are receiving an email about without having to open up the message itself. This helps you save time by not having to continuously type out messages for people when they already know what they are receiving even if they don’t read it immediately as soon as it arrives in their inbox.

If someone has sent a file attachment in a previous email message, Gmail will ask if you want to download it automatically every time you receive another email from them with another attachment (if it fits your storage quota. In order to disable this feature, fplow these steps. Go to Settings > Forwarding And POP/IMAP > Enable Auto-Import > Disable auto-import settings > Click Save Changes button.

When creating a new email message in Gmail, there is a preview pane on the right side of the screen which allows you to view attachments or other images that may be included within your message while composing it. To scrpl down through any extra images pasted into your message before sending it out (just like scrpling down on a Facebook page), simply drag your mouse cursor down until all images are visible in full size below your message text field before hitting send or Send + Archive (this places your draft into your archive fpder rather than deleting it. Otherwise, clicking Send will automatically upload all images included within your message along with your message body text into Gmail’s servers before sending
