Microsoft Teams is a chat-based workspace for teams in Office 365. It was launched on November 2, 2017 after two years of development. It is made by combining the Skype for Business and SharePoint products, according to Microsoft. Teams has a number of features, including video chat, audio calls, screen sharing, and an interactive whiteboard.
GitLab is a web-based Git repository manager application with wiki and issue tracking features. It is written in Ruby, and therefore the frontend is built using Ruby on Rails.
Microsoft Teams allows users to integrate GitHub into the platform via its REST API. This makes it possible for users to create issues within a repository while working within the Teams interface. A user can also attach a specific commit or pull request to an issue that has been created within Microsoft Teams.
Both Microsoft Teams and GitLab allow users to create repositories hosted on their respective platforms. On Microsoft Teams, users can create new repositories within the Teams UI whereas GitLab provides its own repository creation feature.
Although GitLab seems to have better integration with GitHub than Microsoft Teams does, Microsoft Teams offers integrations with multiple third-party products, such as JIRA and Zendesk. Both products are available in a cloud service or an on-premises version.
The process to integrate Microsoft Teams and GitLab may seem complicated and intimidating. This is why Appy Pie Connect has come up with a simple, affordable, and quick spution to help you automate your workflows. Click on the button below to begin.
