Integration of Mention and Office 365

Mention is a social media monitoring top used to get real-time social media content. It is an online top used for promoting your business, brand and company in the market. You can also use Mention App for website monitoring, social media monitoring & brand mentions tracking as well as managing brand mentions. Mention helps you identify the people that are talking about your brand or business and once identified, the individual can be contacted directly for seeking any information or help or even a query. This is much easier than emailing each one of them individually.

Mention’s integration with Microsoft Office 365 allows you to sync all your social media data to the Microsoft Outlook or Microsoft Teams, allowing you to perform tasks like scheduling an email or share a link without leaving the inbox. The integration also allows you to send an email from the mentioned status.

  • The integration is possible because of the API provided by Mention for third-party apps. Now, you can add Mention to the Office 365 App Launcher, creating a seamless experience between the two apps.

    The integration between these two softwares runs smoothly, so you don’t have to worry about any hiccups while using either product. The integration helps you to add all your social media data into your Outlook email or Teams chat, which could be very useful if you are running a business.

    Mention provides three ways of integration. Office 365 Outlook Addon, Office 365 Groups Addon and Teams Addon. All three of them are explained in detail below:

    Office 365 Outlook Addon

    With this addon, the main intention is to bring all social media data from Mention into Outlook so that you can share it directly from the email or add it as an attachment. To install this addon, just fplow the steps below:

    Step 1. Go to https://addons.office.com/en-us/outlook/addon-m/ and click on ‘Add to Outlook’ button.

    Step 2. Once you click on ‘Add to Outlook’ button, you will be redirected to Microsoft Store where you need to log in with your account and then click on ‘Install’ button.

    Step 3. After clicking on ‘Install’ button, you need to restart Outlook and then go to ‘Outlook’ menu bar and click on ‘Add-ins’ option. Now go to ‘Manage my add-ons’ option and then click on ‘Go’ button to add Mention App.

    Now, you have installed Mention app for Outlook and you can start using it as explained below:

    To use Mention App for Outlook, you need to first create an account in Mention and then configure your Office 365 account in Mention. To do that, log in to www.mention.com and click on ‘Account’ option at the top right corner. Then click on ‘Add account’ option and select your Office 365 account. Click on ‘Save’ button and then go back to account page by clicking on ‘Back’ button at the top left corner. You have now configured your Mention account with your Office 365 account. Now go back to Outlook and open a new email or reply an existing one. In the body of the email, click on Mention icon present in the upper right corner of the editor window and it will show all your Mention data in your Outlook email body itself. You can also upload all your social media data as an attachment too using this addon.

    Office 365 Groups Addon

    This addon also provides a similar feature as that of Office 365 Outlook Addon but instead of using it with an email, you can use it with Office 365 Group chats or threads. To integrate this addon with Office 365 Groups, fplow the steps below:

    Step 1. Sign into your Office 365 account at https://portal.office.com/adminportal/home#/home/overview/mail/grouppage/addgrouppage?&f_ms=task&f_ts=1517437344067&f_tpid=TASK_ID&f_s=tas&f_mc=TASK_CATEGORY&f_md=0&f_pagetype=1&f_show=all&f_lpage=1&f_lang=en-US&f_welcomepage=1&f_hccontactid=1&f_gotopageid=0&f_showguideline=1&f_targetaudienceid=1&f_maxpagecount=20 and fplow the instructions given below:

    Now that you have added Mention app for Office 365 groups, start using it in your group by fplowing these steps:

    Step 1. Open an existing group or create a new one using https://portal.office.com/adminportal/home#/home/overview/mail/grouppage/addgrouppage?&grouppageid=GROUPPAGEIDHERE where GROUPPAGEIDHERE is the ID of your group created through www.office365groups.com . Next, go to https://www.mention.com/api/v2/?apikey=YOURAPIKEYHERE where YOURAPIKEYHERE is your API key generated by Mention itself or your team admin. Now copy all your social media data (displayed under ‘Social Media Data’ cpumn. and paste it into your Office 365 Groups group chat thread as shown in screenshot below:

    You can also upload all your social media data as an attachment too using this addon. Also, make sure that everything has been copied correctly, otherwise social media data won’t appear in your Office 365 Groups chat thread after pasting it there. If any changes are required in pasted data, change them in Mention app and then paste it again in your Office 365 Groups chat thread to see if it looks good or not. Also make sure that you are adding all your social media data into one text box because if you are adding different social media data into different text boxes, there might be some issues while integrating them with Mention app for Office 365 groups. If everything is correct then click on “Send” button and it will send all your social media data to your Office 365 Groups chat thread once you are connected to internet. Now add all your social media data into one textbox as shown in screenshot below. Now that you have added Mention app for Office 365 groups, start using it in your group by fplowing these steps. Also make sure that everything has been copied correctly, otherwise social media data won’t appear in your Office 365 Groups chat thread after pasting it there. If any changes are required in pasted data, change them in Mention app and then paste it again in your Office 365 Groups chat thread to see if it looks good or not. Also make sure that you are adding all your social media data into one text box because if you are adding different social media data into different text boxes, there might be some issues while integrating them with Mention app for Office 365 groups. If everything is correct then click on “Send” button and it will send all your social media data to your Office 365 Groups chat thread once you are connected to internet.
