Integration of Mailgun and Zoho Inventory

Mailgun?

Mailgun is an email service provider that was launched in 2010. It allows companies to send, track and perform analytics on emails. The company was founded by Ben Chestnut and Dan Kurzius. The headquarters is located in San Francisco, California. As of October 2017, the company has more than 300 employees, some of which are located in Uruguay, Argentina, India, Germany, Ireland, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. So far more than 50 million emails have been sent using Mailgun.

Mailgun offers various features to its clients including URL shortening, advanced analytics, easy setup and multiple languages. Its core features are detailed below.

  • Advanced Analytics

Advanced analytics allow customers to view the progress of their campaigns over time. This feature provides statistics for each campaign such as total emails delivered, opened and forwarded. Data is provided for each campaign separately as well as compared with others. Data can be exported to CSV or JSON format for analysis in external applications.

  • Multiple domains

This feature allows multiple subdomains or subdirectories to be used with the same account. Users can connect multiple domains to one account using CNAME records. Mailgun supports multiple domain management via DNS interface, making it easy to manage multiple domains without having to use multiple accounts.

  • Easy setup

Mailgun makes it very easy to send bulk emails by offering helpful tops as well as a step-by-step guide on how to integrate into any application or website. In addition, they provide a user guide that provides step-by-step instructions on how to send email from a different domain. The guide also explains how to change MX DNS records for a domain as well as create a new domain using Mailgun’s Domain Manager top.

  • Multiple languages

Multiple languages are offered by Mailgun so that all users can have an easier time using the services provided by the company. Languages supported by Mailgun include English, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Turkish. In addition to this, Mailgun offers a REST API that developers can use to translate the company’s interface into other languages as well as find out how many different languages are supported by Mailgun. Since internationalization is one of the top priorities of Mailgun, they are still adding new languages to their list of languages supported by them. Currently, there are four languages being added to the existing languages supported by Mailgun. They are Italian, Bulgarian, Malay and Catalan. The translations will be live by early 2018 according to Mailgun’s blog post dated 8th January 2018. The blog post also mentioned that the company is working on improving the overall translation experience as well as adding support for additional languages such as Hindi and Indonesian as well as other languages such as Dutch and Vietnamese.

Integration of Mailgun and Zoho Inventory

Google Analytics can be used to track events and page views on websites and apps using Google’s products and services such as Gmail and Google Drive but there is no dedicated tracker for tracking events and pageviews on websites and web applications using third party products and services such as Mailgun and Zoho Inventory. Therefore we will use Google Tag Manager (GTM. to track events and pageviews on our website’s pages such as ‘/product/create_invoice’ and ‘/customer/get_orders’ that use Zoho Inventory and Mailgun respectively.

To do this we will create two tags; one tag will track events and pageviews on Zoho Inventory (using GTM event tags and pageview tags. and the other tag will track events and pageviews on Mailgun (also using GTM event tags and pageview tags. Also we will use GTM data layer variables to reference our Google Analytics Universal Analytics code snippet for GTM to work properly together with Google Analytics code for both tracking these events/pageviews as well as setting up event tracking code for our website’s pages that use Mailgun and Zoho Inventory.

In order for this integration to work properly we have to complete the fplowing steps:
