Integration of Google Photos and Airtable

Google Photos?

Google Photos is a cloud based photo sharing, storage and backup service by Google. It is available on Android, iOS, and the web. Google Photos was announced in May 2015 and released at the end of May 2015. As of January 2018, Google Photos has 400 million monthly active users.

Airtable is a San Francisco-based information management software company. It provides online spreadsheet tops that can be used to manage complex databases and share information with others. In addition to online mobile apps, Airtable also offers desktop applications for MacOS and Windows. The company was founded in 2012 by Matthew Milligan and floor plan designer Jessica McKellar. As of October 2017, Airtable has raised $27.4 million from investors including Y Combinator, General Catalyst, SV Angel, Redpoint Ventures, Yuri Milner, Alexis Ohanian, and Garry Tan.

Integration of Google Photos and Airtable

Google Photos uses computer vision to organize photos into albums, automatically creates videos, and categorizes images using machine learning algorithms. It also allows users to group images by topics called “People” and “Places” for easy sorting. However, it does not allow users to further organize their photos into more specific categories or to link all of their photos together in one place.

Airtable offers features to organize data into tables (which are similar to spreadsheets. and then create relationships between data through links between records. These links help to make the connections between pieces of data in the database very clear. This feature makes it easier for users to search for information inside an Airtable database than inside a Google Photos album or Google Drive fpder filled with photos.

With integration of Google Photos and Airtable, Google Photos can be easily integrated into existing Airtable databases or Project Management tops used by businesses or companies. After integrating more than 10 million photos into an Airtable database, Google Photos can be accessed from within the Airtable interface. This will allow users to upload new photos directly to their database while still being able to keep track of all their photos in one place without having to open multiple programs.

For example, a photographer who had already created an Airtable database called “Photo Catalog” could integrate it with Google Photos by going into Google Drive>Google Photos>Settings>More Settings>Enable “Add photos and videos to Airtable”. Now any photo or video he takes will go into his Photo Catalog database as well as Google Photos. Then he can use the Airtable app on his phone to view all his photos in one place. He can also add notes about his photos such as how much he paid for them or any memories they remind him of that will help him remember where each photo was taken when he looks at it later on. The photo below shows the Photo Catalog database with one of the photographers photos added to it after integrating it with Google Photos.
