Google Groups is a free product by Google that allows users to create groups and add people from their address book. It is a very good product. It helps the user to filter messages, add people, assign tasks to them, and so on. SendGrid is a service that helps to send emails. It's a very popular service for its reliability and ease of use. The integration of these two products will bring many more benefits to the user than using just one of these products separately.
In this part we will explain how to integrate Google Groups and SendGrid and what benefits can be achieved from integrating them.
Firstly, you need to create a Google Group. You may ask why is it necessary to create a Google Group to integrate with SendGrid? It's because SendGrid doesn't accept emails directly, but it accepts emails after receiving them through a Google Group. After creating the Google Group, you have to enable Email Notifications for it. To do this, go to Settings > General Settings > Email Notifications tab. Enable Email Notifications and choose the group you want to receive email notifications for.
After enabling Email Notifications, when somebody sends an email to the group, all members of that group will get a message in their Gmail inbox with the subject line, "[groupname] via Google Groups". In the body of the email, there will be a link like this:
When somebody clicks on this link, he will get into the Google Group and see the thread with the email. You can also set up SMS notifications so that whenever somebody sends an email to your group, you will get it as an SMS on your mobile phone.
Now let's see how we can integrate SendGrid with Google Groups. First of all, you need to sign up for a SendGrid account and install the plugin for it on your website. Now go to Settings > Email Configuration > SMTP Servers tab and enter your SMTP server details here. Then you need to enter your group name in the From field. You can find this field under Settings > Email Configuration > Advanced tab.
After that you need to create a new account for your website or blog using the same Google Group that you used above. To do this go to https://www.google.com/accounts/NewAccount . Enter your details like username, password, and so on, and then click "Next". On this page you'll see a list of Google services you use. Select "Blogger" from the list, enter your Blogger username and password, and then click "Sign in". Now you are allowed to create a new account for your website or blog. After signing in, you'll get a confirmation email from Blogger asking you to confirm your account. Just click on the verification link in this email and you're done!
So now when somebody sends an email to your Google Group, it will be delivered to every member of that group as well as sent as an email to your website or blog through SendGrid. And if you have enabled SMS notifications, you'll also get an SMS on your mobile phone every time somebody sends an email to your group!
