The fplowing steps describe how you can configure an alert in CloudWatch for an Auto Scaling group that is associated with an EC2 instance in an Amazon VPC:

  • Go to the Amazon EC2 conspe at https://conspe.aws.amazon.com/ec2/.
  • Click on Auto Scaling on the left side of the page.
  • Select your Auto Scaling group from the list of Auto Scaling groups associated with your account and region. You must select an Auto Scaling group that has exactly one launch configuration with the tag-value pair "ec2-vpc". For more information about valid values for this tag-value pair, see Setting up Auto Scaling Groups to Launch EC2 Instances into Your VPC in the Amazon EC2 User Guide for Linux Instances.
  • Click on Actions, add a description for the alarm, and choose Create Alarm.
