Google Drive and Tableau are software programs that can be used for data visualization. Google Drive is the place where we store our files in the cloud and it provides us with all type of file formats like Docs, Sheets, Slides etc. where as Tableau is a program that helps to plot data and create dashboards and visualizations.Tableau is a software which makes analyzing and visualizing data easy. It is an intuitive program when in use but there are many things that we need to know before we start using it. There are various tops available for data visualization; we can use them according to our requirements. There are a number of online sources for learning about Tableau, but I prefer to learn by reading books. There are many books available for Tableau; which one should we choose? In this article, I am going to share my experience regarding tableau books and how I choose the best one for myself. The first thing that we should consider while choosing a book about Tableau is what kind of book do we need? Are we looking for a book which has everything that we need to do Tableau or we want to learn about Tableau from basics? If you have never used Tableau then I would suggest you to start with a book which will guide you through all the steps required by you till you are able to visualize your own data. But if you have some previous knowledge of Tableau then a book which covers advanced topics will be more suitable for you.Another important factor that we should consider is the availability of the book. We want to choose a book that we can easily get it; otherwise it will be meaningless too choose an expensive book which is not available in our region. So before choosing a book always check whether it is easily available or not. There are also some other factors like author's reputation, language of the book etc., but the most important factor is what kind of book do you want? Do you want something that will guide you through each step, or you want something more advanced. This factor is completely up to you but keep in mind that without some basic knowledge of Tableau you cannot benefit from advanced books. The most important factor of any book is quality of content. The content must be up-to-date as technpogy changes every day and new versions of software are released almost every month, so a book which is not updated regularly will give you wrong information. A book which has outdated information will harm the reputation of book's author too.Books come at different prices; it depends on how much information they contain or how much pages they have. So before buying a book ask yourself what kind of stuff you are looking for? Do you want something that gives you a broad idea about Tableau or you want something that covers each and every aspect of Tableau? Some books cover both kinds of topics, so if you can afford then buy a book that has more pages and gives you in depth information about Tableau. Always buy a book with at least 500 pages because anything less than that will not be able to cover all the topics properly. The best thing about books is that they are always ready when you need them. You don't have to install any software; they are easily accessible and portable too. Books basically have two parts. theory and practical part. Nowadays, even online sources provide us with practice material but sometimes it becomes difficult to find out good practice material from internet or from paid sources so books play an important rpe here as they provide us with good practice material.Nowadays there is no dearth of good books on Tableau so it is really hard to find out the best one for us. But there are some things which can help us in making decision regarding buying a book. Here I am going to share my personal experience regarding Tableau books and why I like them. I am going to explain my point of view regarding each tableau book which I have used so far; this information will help you in selecting the best book for yourself. So let's start discussing why I like these books:I. "Tableau Your Data!. A Visual Guide to Easy Data Analysis and Visualization" by Andy Cotgreave and Rob Murray . https://www.amazon.com/dp/1617299570This Book was published by Packt Publishing which means that its content is up-to-date and high quality because Packt Publishing is known for publishing high quality technical content; this factor makes this book worthy of being in first place among all other books on Tableau .Tableau Your Data! contains everything related to Tableau , starting from installation till using advanced features of Tableau . It covers topics like connecting to database, making maps etc., so if you want something that covers all topic related to Tableau then this book is perfect for you . This book also contains some exercises which can be useful for people who want to practice before making real projects with Tableau . My favourite feature of this book is that it contains many practical examples which will be useful for people who want to make projects in Tableau . This example based approach makes learning very easy; it helps readers in understanding concepts better . So if you are interested in learning Tableau from basics then I strongly recommend this book .II. "Mastering Tableau 10. Fundamental Techniques for Data Visualization" by Vincent Granville . https://www.packtpub.com/big-data-and-business-intelligence/mastering-tableau-10-fundamental-techniques-data-visualizationMastering Tableau 10 . Fundamental Techniques for Data Visualization was published by Packt Publishing too so its content quality is up to mark; but this time it was written by Vincent Granville who is a well known author of many technical books . He also runs many youtube channels on different topics where he provides information about different software like Tableau , SQL server etc. This book starts with simple exercises like connecting to Excel or connecting to database and then gradually moves towards advanced topics like creating dashboard, interactive maps etc., so if you are willing to start with a simple project then this book can be useful for you . But if you are interested in learning advanced topics like dashboards then this book might not be helpful for you because it does not cover advanced topics much; its focus remains on fundamental techniques . This book also contains lots of practical examples which will help readers in practicing different aspects of Tableau . If you have enough budget then I would definitely recommend this book because it contains lots of information and its author is well known too.III. "Data Visualization with Tableau Public" by Jonathan Drummey . http://www.amazon.com/Data-Visualization-Tableau-Public/dp/1787124476Data Visualization with Tableau Public was published by Packt Publishing too; this means that its content quality is up to mark . This book was written by Jonathan Drummey who worked at QlikTech as Technical Evangelist for almost 12 years; his experience in QlikTech helped him in writing better content for this book .This book teaches readers how to use Tableau Public by explaining various steps starting from connecting to data source till making interactive dashboards etc., so if you want something that covers all topic related to Tableau Public then this book should be your choice . This book also contains some exercises which can be useful for people who want to practice before making real projects with Tableau Public . My favourite feature of this book is its chapter on Dashboard Design Elements because it covers many aspects associated with dashboard design which can be useful for people who want to create their own dashboards . Another thing that I liked about this book is its chapter on Creating Contextual Visualizations because readers can get an overview about different types of visualizations and how to create them . So if you are interested in learning basics of data visualization then I would definitely recommend this book .IV. "Interactive Data Visualization for the Web" by Scott Murray . https://www.packtpub.com/big-data-and-business-intelligence/interactive-data-visualization-webInteractive Data Visualization for the Web was published by Packt Publishing too; again this means that content quality is up to mark , but this time Scott Murray wrote it who worked at IBM as Chief Data Officer but now he works at Amazon as Director of Development . His experience in IBM helped him a lot in writing good content for this book .This book covers most basic topics required by readers who want to visualize their own data using data visualization tops like D3 , HighCharts , Google Charts etc.; readers can learn basics of these tops using this book but it does not go in detail about these tops
